Team-BHP - Suggestions for Team-BHP from Team-BHPians

FYI: I don't remember who, but on another thread, someone asked why a thread had a higher post count than that for views. Primary reason : The number of views (for any thread) is recalculated each hour. It's not up to the minute, as that would be very server intensive for the 100,000 threads onboard.

A query on the post count again!

Just want to know if a person reports a post, it increases the post count? Is it by design or an error?

Moving away from post counts & enabled buttons, can we expect 'Official Motorcycle Reviews' from the Team? (Yes, its a Car forum, with a small space for Motorcyclists)

My request is based on the reason that few in the Support Team are Motorcyclist and I better read their views than that of a magazine. The specialized two wheel magazines aren't up to the mark IMHO.
(Manson being added to Team made me bring this up :D)

Its just a suggestion and if the blokes are too tied up, then we can let this pass :)

Absolute thumbs up for this one!

I remember discussing this with a mod, and he told me it was under discussion. Would love to see two wheel reviews soon!

Had a query with respect to the Spotting of cars with TBHP sticker.

What if I am not a regular on this thread, how would I know that my car was spotted and I missed the post?

This is just an example. I have subscribed to this thread, so keep a tab. But for members who are unaware, is there a mechanism which auto subscribes certain Threads right from the start? This could include the Announcements thread too.

MaSh

Hi,

I am not sure whether this query was posted earlier.

How about including "Wanted" column in Classifieds? Need not be open to non form members. This will be helpful for fellow members especially when stuck in sourcing certain spares for restoration projects.

Mr. Boss, There you go!

We can look at changing the look/position of the thanks button. I have thanked many a people thinking I was going to quote them.

EDIT: I know it says "thanks" right on the button :) but quote button used to be there earlier.

In 'Classifieds' section I am seeing ads which are more than 6 months old.

How about implementing expiry dates for ads?
Say, the system can trigger a mail to the poster after 30 days so that he can update the status / revise the price / etc.
And if there are no updates, the ad can be removed after 45 / 50 days.

+1 to that. I mailed a guy a while back for a product on sale. And he never replied. Mailed a couple of times more and got a mail in all CAPS. ITEM SOLD. :D

Is the option 'Receive a PM When Quoted' still under implementation?
Noticed that I don't receive any PM when quoted (even though the option is set as Yes)

+1.

I'm also facing the same problem. Double checked my settings, but nada - no pm's.

^^ Add me to the list. Not getting a PM when quoted.

what about the 'View Single Post' feature?

Individual posts can still be linked to; however, the "view single post" feature has been disabled for certain operational reasons.

Guys, we're aware of the button misalignment etc. and are still fine-tuning the "Thank you" software add-on.

Just a note : This has been sorted & all's in place. The Thanks feature development is now closed.

At this time, we have no plans to allow our guests to Thank posts.

Being discussed as we speak. Thanks! Mpower, Technocrat, BBlost, V12, Manson & TheMAG are bike guys too!

I love motorcycles, and came close to buying a superbike in '06. However, my knowledge is extremely limited on the 2 wheeled world, hence I'll stay away from compiling any bike reviews.

We're never too tied up for wheels!

Better than when it was being 'tested' yesterday!

Thanks! We are fans of fine-tuning to the minutest detail. Some of our developers end up with a headache though :)

Quote:

For some of us regular members, it's different and might take some getting used to.
Only a li'l time, I guess. Most of us are already used to the new feature.

Quote:

So what would be the other 2 new features?
Being tested. Will be signed off for release very soon.

Many thanks if so, really wanted that and appreciate the Mods efforts to put into use many of the suggestions put forward by Bhpians.
Its this way of going about things that makes Team BHP so special.
Its not some forum where we discuss things. Its OUR forum.
Thanks for making Team-BHP what it is.

Thanks Mdsaab for the suggestion on "PM when quoted". It is due for release once final testing is complete.

Can you please provide the links of any community with a wiki feature enabled? I'd be keen on understanding your suggestion more.

Nice feature to encapsulate in a single link. By the way, GTO, would you and your team also consider introducing a "I AGREE" button.

Thanks for the suggestion, Melvyn. But we hate clutter and think that the Thanks button is as far as we'll go. Period.

If this is too much to ask then atleast links for such threads must be provided in the official review thread. Top class reviews like that of " Quick First Drive: Fiat Linea 1.4 T-JET " by sidindica goes to the archives just like ordinary threads. I understand all the discussions are continued in the official thread but why let such a valiant effort go unnoticed?

Great suggestion, thanks Oxygen. We will design a page that links to the top, most detailed reviews for each car sold in India.

Done. We are implementing an expiration of 90 days. Either that, or if the seller marks his ad as sold (whichever is earlier). Thank you.

I am unable to upload snaps from my mobile. I use a HTC Desire HD(Android). The upload page does open, but the upload file window which normally shows while uploading from the PC does not show up, which is understandable. But is there another way/feature to upload ? Or is this yet to be added on to the mobile site support ? This is something that I observed earlier and did try to find out if there are apps that can be installed on my device via Android Market which helps us to upload files to sites that dont have this feature support. But I am unable to locate any. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
