Your device may be Tata Photon+ compatible, but is Photon+ service available in your area? Maybe your area only has Tata Photo Whizz service, which is quite slow.

Sorry for going off the topic but I think you can change the service from whizz to the regular one by changing some settings.

That's nothing. I bought Tata plug2surf. I just have one word for it: HORRIBLE. I used it for 8 months, paying some 450 Rs/month and using it for 3 - 4 hours a month.

Other things I should never have bought:
1. Tilting grinder: My mother asked me to keep one at home. I have not used for the last 3 years.
2. Eureka Forbes vacuum cleaner: It is too big. My maid prefer the good old broom.
3. gym weights: the lesser said the better. My brother used them for a few months, and then he moved to Mumbai. Since then, they have been rusting.
4. Volleyball: I wonder why I bought it. I have never played that game. And I have not seen any place where I can play (nor have I met anyone who knows to play volleyball).

Re: I wish I never bought that!

Bought a drill from Rediff shopping some 3 yrs back. It was displaying offer price of around 750 or so (and actual price of some 1400 Rs). Bosch and other brands were in 2K range. Fell for it and ordered online. As soon as it got delivered tried fixing a nail in wall, the drill got overheated and burnt off. Warrenty was another huge mail chain, same time had to go onsite and had to leave the whole process midway writing off as lost money.

Reliance Broadband+ connect is what i wish i have never bought. Its so horrible in my area i.e. Koramangala that I might have been paying only the rental for couple of months hoping my complaint against speed will be resolved.

Ouch, the RD has been one of my favourite mags for decades and am always subscribed to it. I do agree about the spam, paper-wastage, idiotic-lotteries etc.

The renewal happens by VPP, unless you sent out a cheque or paid by card. So, just instruct people at home not to pay for it to the postman. No one other than postman will come to renew it.

I have done this many years ago, though not for RD, but for some other spammers sending via post. I filled the postage-paid covers with waste-paper, veg-peels etc and posted it. I reckoned atleast IndiaPost will gain.

Just make sure you dont have your name/address anywhere on the envelope.

I also had a very bad experience with Reliance net connect. To be very simple, it is horrible and complete waste of money. I am currently using Tata Photon Plus which seems to be slightly better. But no way you can compare it with Airtel.

I have almost used all the broadband connections and i rate Airtel to be the topmost and BSNL the second if your luck is favorable.

Re: I wish I never bought that!

It wasnt a bad magazine. When I was in school, I used to read RD regularly, thats like 20-25 years ago. The RD today, i dont like it, maybe I have changed or the magazine has changed. Im sure they are in desperate times, just like many other magazines, with the internet coming to age. Anyway go green !!

+1.

Its generally ok in my area, but PATHETIC at night between 9:00PM and 11:00 PM. Even google refuses to load at times - and I need to sit and refresh pages.

Re: I wish I never bought that!

For me it has to be a HP photo printer that I got as a combo with a HP digital camera around 6 years ago. Never used it to print anything. Not even sure where it lies now.

Yes actually i had thought about it. But then i thought how would the person who needs it decide if it fits him based on the post. He might end up taking it from me and wonder why did i get that.

Re: I wish I never bought that!

Regretted buying an Indigo Lx Dicor. I think it was the year 2007 (Don't even care to remember). Bought one of the first batch that arrived this part of the country.
Still having a laugh over it with some of my friends till now.

Lots and lots of problems. Too many to mention here.
Some which the dealer could not even understand. The first biggest problem was that we had to change the clutch plate after 2 weeks from taking delivery.
Now its gone and peace finally.

Re: I wish I never bought that!

I am sad to write this as I was once an ardent advocate of this product. But today I have turned into one big hater of this service.

I am talking about none other than Tata Photon+. Trust me - Don't go by the cheesy ads featuring an equally cheesy actor promoting their services. They are useless, good-for-nothing people.

Story - I was not gonna use my Photon for some time and hence I applied for Device in Safe Custody. As per this, I shall not be charged my usual rent or any other charges but instead a monthly fee of 75/-. This is completely different from deactivating the service as your device and account will remain in your name and you can activate the service at your convenience, when you plan to use it again.

By mid-April, I felt the need to stay connected again and wanted to 'revive' my connection. It should be a simple process, right? I applied for Safe Custody through the internet and the same should be followed even for removal of my device from safe custody! But, reality is vastly different from our imagination.

I first applied to remove my device from Safe Custody through my account on TataPhoton.com. I also sent a mail to their helpdesk as mine is a corporate connection. The sales guy who sits in our premises said all I need to do is to send them a mail with a scanned copy of my company ID card and it shall be done. I sent the first mail on 19th April, along with the necessary attachment. got the usual auto-reply that my query will be resolved soon. I kept on connecting my Photon device to my laptop every night, night after night, only to be disappointed as the connection was not restored. Wrote a few more mails, visited their store in Chinchwad (Pune), resubmitted my documents, wrote a few more mails, phewww....

Till date - nearly 14 days have passed but my issue hasn't been resolved yet. The connection is not active. In the meantime I have not only lost my patience and my precious time (4 days of liesure as Tuesday was a holiday and was planning on using internet big time during these 4 days), but also had to let go several important tasks that I wanted to perform. There is no solution in sight as of this writing. I don't know how long it will take and how many mails, trips and phone calls are required further to get what I should have gotten with mush lesser efforts.

PS - I have a credit balance with the company. Take that!

Re: I wish I never bought that!

I am repenting buying a shower module. Nothing wrong with it, in fact it works perfectly.
Just that my son would have preferred a bathtub instead and doesnt leave an opportunity to remind me of it. As of date, he has boycotted the shower module and is using the guest bath for his showers.
Anyone here who wants to trade a bathtub for a shower module?

Whats this custody thing? I have a Photon+ device too which I used for a couple of months last year, but hadnt used for 6 months before that. Never did any custody thing, perhaps only for postpaid subscribers?

Yes this is a postpaid exclusive feature as postpaid customers have all the right in this world to be harassed by the service providers. 'To be in safe custody' means that I can keep the device with me and remain as an active customer of the service provider but they shall not charge me the monthly rental as per my plan. In return I don't get to use the service, which is the primary reason why somebody would opt for a Safe Custody. Once I wish to revive my connection, I can remove the device from safe custody and start using the service as before.

Update - After a strongly worded mail to the Appellate Authority, services to my Tata Photon has been restored.
