Old timers of Manipal might know this place.
It still exists, but i guess it was better earlier, considering that i have been there only once in the past few years.

But I think its on the right side while going towards Parkala. Before it used to be on the left side. It was a small place. I was in school then in early 90s.

Big Boss very much exists, but now it mainly caters to auto drivers and similar clientele. Even students avoid that place.

Options in Manipal were very less those days. But now. Whole Manipal is like MIT campus.

One more place I remember in Udupi. The dry bhel wallah. He used to stand near Mitra samaj. The bhel used to have coconut oil in it. I did see two people selling them in a pushing cart recently near Mitra Samaj. But the taste wasn't so good.

Speaking of charmuri, a few places where I have tasted excellent charmuri
1. Shop next to the co-operative society petrol bunk(opposite Indra Bhavan) at Balmatta
2. Temple square/ car street - there is a pushcart vendor whose nickname is sukrundo
3. Shop at the base of Gomata betta in Karkala

Some shops (none of the above) also prepare a variant of charmuri by adding mashed boiled eggs, this too tastes yummy! There used to be one such shop opposite Padua School, not sure if it still exists.

Talking about Charmuri (or Charmuri Upkari), folks going to Kundapur should have Charmuri at Annaya's. It is on the same road that leads to Shetty's lunch home but earlier on the left side.
Annaya's also has vaccuum sealed Charmuri packets which you can take away and bring it back home. Just add little coconut oil apart from other necessary ingredients and voila, your charmuri is ready.
Believe me, my cousin even took some sealed charmuri packets to the US.

When I had little more budget, I'd visit Dollops (Roosta's Area), Tasty Bites, Lake View, Cosmos...
When I had a lot of money, Pisces or Kidiyoor in Udupi.
I'm MITian 1997-2001 I.P. I have eaten at all the above places apart from Deva's , Press Cart, Little CHef, Pandey's Paratha Point, Snack Shack!
