Re: The Cricket Thread

I would rather have Dhawan than Pujara on current form in test matches honestly.

The test series begins in August so I doubt we would see the typical English swinging conditions. Dhawan has the potential to murder any attack when the ball doesn't move.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Looking at the way our batsmen are playing, this wicket seems to be a difficult one to score freely. I would recon anything around 150 would be competitive. Nohit throwing away his wicket again as if it was the 20th over of the match

OT: Does any one else have a premium subscription to Sony Set online streaming?
I am using their premium services for football and cricket. For the cricket matches, they are still showing ads like for normal free streaming. It is extremely annoying. And this happened during the first match also. I have sent an email to their customer support but don't think they even care. Is there any govt authority that we can complain perhaps?

Re: The Cricket Thread

Both the teams played well but Hales took England through. India did well to stretch them till 19.4overs. Good match overall where the bowlers didn't let batsmen score freely

Re: The Cricket Thread

Rohit Sharma, Kohli and Hardik Pandya just finished off the English bowlers to give the Indian team a series victory in the T20I edition of this India tour of England.
Some records as well with Dhoni taking 5 catches and 1 run out, Rohit getting to 3 centuries in T20I's.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Damn !

I slept very early last night so missed the entire match. Well played, India.

England as an ODI side is much more dangerous, so that will be a challenge.

How bad is Bhuvi's injury ? He is probably the only player after Kohli that walks into the XI in all three formats.

Re: The Cricket Thread

If Bumrah and Bhuvi don't recover before the test series then we are pretty much screwed.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Joe Root looks quite dispensable from the ODI squad. keeping Alex Hales out for the returning Ben Stokes does not make sense.

Re: The Cricket Thread

He's averaged nearly 50 at a very healthy strike rate in recent times. Root over Hales anyday, especially since he is the only one that provides stability in the middle order. And will give 4-5 overs.

In Sri Lanka, Steyn makes yet another comeback from injury. Hope it goes well for him !

True. I won't play root in T20 as that's suitable only for power hitters and he ain't one. But in ODI he and Morgan are the ones providing stability among the hitters.

I am sure Raina will play again ahead of Kartik and Iyer.

Re: The Cricket Thread

3 weeks ago 481.
Same ground, similar conitions 268 all out
Lost with almost 10overs to spare
England will have a lot to work on especially on how to pick Kuldeep Yadav.
He was just Amazing with figures of 6-25
Rohit and Kohli were as clinical as they could get with the chase.
Emphatic win to start will do the Indian team very good

Re: The Cricket Thread

Rohit has transformed from Nohit to Hitman!
Easy win for India in the first ODI with almost 10 overs to spare. Always good to see India bowl well overseas.

Don't think so - its England, there will be swing. It's just the skill of the bowlers England has in Tests. There also has be atleast some swing early morning. I think both Dhawan & Pujara are sitting ducks. Dhawan will still play, atleast at the beginning because of his limited over scores. If it were up to me, I'd drop both.

Re: The Cricket Thread

With back to back tons I'm starting to worry about Rohit Sharma making a comeback into the Test team! Ideally he should be dropped/rested. The absence of Bhuvi & Bumrah has not been felt as yet thankfully.

Agree. Nasser Hussain was saying the same thing on commentary yesterday.

Red ball + England + Anderson / Broad = Swing.

With Pandya likely to start in the 11, I don't think Rohit will make it no matter what he does in the next 2 ODIs. We are safe there

Either Pujara or Vijay should start in the 11 - someone who can take the shine off the ball.
