Announcing the Team-BHP Classifieds!!

Team,

We are extremely proud to announce the *NEW* Team-BHP Classifieds.

Our all-new classifieds section is packed to the gill with features, and nearly all of the suggestions that the member community had brought forward here have been implemented. This includes location specific searches, an ad-compare feature, advanced searching on a variety of parameters, saving your search preferences, car-specific alert system, tools to maintain seller privacy and more. We have completely focused on user-friendliness, whether from the point of view of a buyer or a seller.

Our older classifieds enabled over 4,000 successful transactions. However, it was time we moved on to something new & improved. I hope that you find value in the enhancements.

During the initial period, ads can be listed for free. However, to keep up with Team-BHP's growing infrastructural and monthly expenses, listing fees will eventually be charged (though BHPian & higher member levels will continue to be able to list their vehicles for free). In line with our core principles, we completely resist any marketing or advertising funds from the automotive industry. This is crucial to our independent voice, and the support provided by the classifieds will play a significant role in keeping things that way.

As always, look forward to your comments & suggestions.

NOTE:
  • Our old classifieds section will be removed in a weeks time. If you have any active product listings, please re-list your item on the new Team-BHP Classifieds immediately.

Here are a few of the features found in Team-BHP's *NEW* Classifieds :

OVERVIEW :
  • Just like earlier, Team-BHP Classifieds is a listing-only service and has no involvement in the payment transaction and purchase of the item on sale

FEATURES:

WHILE BROWSING / SEARCHING:
  • Restrict your search to a certain radius around your location
  • Compare selected ads side by side
  • Sort listings by Price, Kms, Year, Latest listings
  • Ads are marked as from a "dealer" or from an "individual"
  • RSS feed of the most recently added listings
  • Auto notification system (eg. Email me every time a new Fiat Palio is listed)
  • Save ads for later viewing (you don't even need to be logged in)
  • Save specific searches, to easily repeat em again later
  • Advanced Search Options:
    - Make / model
    - Multi-model search (eg. Show all Santros, Swifts, and Altos)
    - Price range
    - Selectable search radius of 75km, 150km, 300km or 600km from your location
    - Year of manufacture range (eg. you only want a 2001 or newer OHC)
    - Kms run (eg. you dont want a car thats run more than 30k-kms)
    - Registration state (eg. search for a MH registered car all across India)
    - Fuel type (eg. Diesel only)
    - Transmission (eg. looking for an AT only)
    - Body colour (if you really wanna get picky )
    - Road tax (individual / company)
    - Only show ads by individuals / dealers
    - Condition of item (used / new - for gadgets, ICE, accessories)
    - Sellers willing to ship the item (only for gadgets, ICE, Accessories)

WHILE VIEWING A SINGLE AD:
  • Consistent & well structured layout
  • A quick overview of the car (owners liked / disliked) shown on the right panel
  • Similar ads shown at the bottom
  • View the seller's other ads
  • An integrated "Send Message" functionality. Contact the seller directly from the website
  • Loan calculator
  • One-click bookmark
  • Members can report ads (if they are breaking our rules)
  • Email an ad to a friend (eg. i know xyz is on the lookout for a vRS...)

FOR SELLERS:
  • Privacy! Seller can be contacted VIA the website. Their email, telephone number etc are only shown if they wish to show it.
  • No need to be a forum member to list an ad
  • Listing an ad is quicker (more drop-down selections) and encompasses all the required details
  • Ability to remove your own ad after the item has been sold
  • Ability to "de-activate" your ad (ie take it offline without deleting it, incase you wish to re-list later)

....and much more.

Looking forward to feedback & suggestions.

This is great stuff.

The interface looks good and is intuitive.

Maybe you guys can have comma separators for the figures, and a smaller font size!

Thanks a lot to the guys at the backend for incorporating all those suggestions! Cheers

PS: Can the ads not be relisted on the new classifieds automatically (of course with the missing fields left blank)? Else, I guess it might take quite some time for them to get as populated as the last version.

Brilliant! On the section, it says Forum login is separate from classifieds. Is that only for now or will it be like that only?

It will stay this way only. The two softwares are developed by completely different organisations, and are very unique in how they function. For the sake of stability & reliability, we will keep the accounts separate.

One question to Mods. If I enter my Team BHP Login credential on this page,
http://classifieds.team-bhp.com/login/
it gives an error that no such user exists in our database. Please sign-up by clicking the "Register Now" link shown below.
Does this classifieds needs login other then what we use to login to Forum?

great work guys!

The new interface is quite superb to narrow down my search to exactly what I want. I especially liked the ability to filter search by zipcode and then sort the results by price, year etc.
Is there any way to link the forum login to the classifieds login or in anyway indicate that a post was created by a forum member?

Overall, it looks snazzy and a huge improvement on the previous classifieds section!

Sorry, but these will have to remain independent.

In the sellers contact details, there is a field specifically for their TBHP forum ID.

Also, we are working on a system to add "BHPian!" badges to ads that have been listed by Team-BHP members. Will make a mention of it when it happens.

There are not many ads, so there's really no way right now to check out the listing improvements, but the interface so far looks *cool* ! I had been wondering when the promised improvements in the classifieds would be delivered, and was pleasantly surprised a few minutes back to receive the PM about the same.

The only point I do not like at present is registering and logging in separately for the classifieds. Is there really no way the two apps can share the login details?

Any specific system requirements ? each time I try to re-list it gives me an error message and I have to force shut it down.

I use IE 6.

Posting a quick reply since I'm not sure if my earlier response went through..sorry for the confusion

Certainly is a much much better UI.

The best plus is non members can also post ads and View seller's other ads.

Looking forward to offers here.

Also have we deactivated posting ability Onto the old Classifieds?
How about another Tab/icon New Classifieds next to the current Classifieds?

Looks great guys. Congrats. This was long needed.

BTW do you intend on charging to list ads in the future? Because I see it says list your vehicle for free as an introductory offer?
