Its a TATA Enterprise for electronic equipments.

@Bblost, your lucky to have got that extended credit period with explanation being the same as outlined by Gansan.

Incidentally, even my ICICI Credit card has same billing date ( 18th of every month) and i dont see them nor HDFC bank make any errors in billing.

I got such extended payment from Google Checkout so it is not unusual for merchant or intermediary to delay.

But I am curious, why did this happen.
Also note that the item was purchased at Croma. So a delay from the merchant is highly unlikely.
The item is billed on the credit card when the merchant submits the charge slip, signed by the customer, to the bank.

It is always possible that the charge slip was misplaced at Croma and it was found after a month, possibly during monthly accounting process.

So if Croma submitted the charge slip to ICICI Bank after a month, the item would get billed in the next month.

Such delays do happen sometimes, I have seen many such cases among my friend circle.

I have even seen cases where the merchant misplaced the charge slip and the item was never billed on the customer's credit card.

I do not think that it all happens on physical handling of the charge slips. It only depends on bactch closure. Once a batch is closed the amount is billed onto the customer. So many companies may close it on a daily basis, some may take time.

I had both: Extended credit period as well as non payment from ICICI itself.

Approx 6 year back I bought a TV from a shop for 15K and the same was billed to my statement after an cooling off period of 2 months. But that was mannual swiping but now a days its not possible as the moment its got authorized through the EDC its registered and end of the day its getting debited to the statement AFAIK.

Signing the charge slip is just a formality and no one cares it as long as you have no complaints to the charges. My wife used to make a number of purchases even with my photo cards and not even a single time some body pointed this.

I used to make the CC payments through net banking from my ICICI a/c the scheduled amount was debited to my a/c but not getting credited to the CC a/c. Next month when I got the late payment fee & taxes only I cross checked and the same was credited after a few followups. The same story repeated consecutively for 3 more months and then I wrote a mail to them and that was settled for ever. Now its perfect.

Hey, how do you generate this one time card? I have an HDFC bank account and credit card, and I just went through the whole HDFC Netbanking website, but I couldn't find any option to create a one-time card.

Also, does this work with any billing address? I understand from NetfreakBombay's post that it could. The reason I need this is because some retailers accept only US billing and shipping addresses, so I can't make purchases to be delivered to a US shipping address as my credit card's all have an Indian billing address.

Thanks a lot!

Alert- 21 Oct-Deutsche Bank - ATM- Debit card issue

Hi All,

Just wanted to let every one who owns a Deutsche bank Debit card know that they are facing some issue which leads to declining of their card.

I was at a restaurant and went through an embarrassing situation where the card got declined twice. Worst part, i didnt have any other card with me as well so rushed to an ATM to get cash and it also declined the transaction. Had to rush home and get another card while the wifey was sitting there.

There was no sms or mail informing me of the same. Spoke to the customer care and they told me that they suddenly started facing this issue.
Just wanted everyone to know so you dont face any embarrassing situation like i did.

Thats a great piece of information and advice to people like me, who only keeps one debit card in handy all the time.

And that too a Nationalized bank one

So does this mean that all deutsche bank cards are facing the same problem? and any idea on how long this is expected to continue? As it is DB has a really small number of ATMS all over the city, and on top of this, these kind of problems are unpardonable, I feel.

Yeah man, thats what the CC told me. They had no idea until when it will continue. Before using the card, I will suggest calling them to confirm.
Regarding the ATMs, i dont really worry as they have a tie up with HDFC and anyways 5 ATM transactions per month are free anyways from any ATM.

Well, I would say it as a learning - Do not 100% rely on plastic money, Do keep enough paper money with you as well to pay groceries at times

A couple of years ago, there was an instance where i couldnt withdraw money from ATM's of SBI bank card. Tried 6 of them one after the other.

So when the server goes down it does not see if its a nationalized bank or a foreign bank

Got another CC from Axis bank specially for surcharge waiver on fuels. The terms & conditions states that there's a 2.5% surcharge waiver on fuel, however the taxes are applicable & I'm little confused.

I used to have the same feature on my RBS card; what they used to do is, collect fuel charge+surcharge this month & waive of surcharge next month. Which effectively means, I'm paying only for what I spend on fuel.

Any idea if I will be paying more with Axis bank? I can check this two months of time, but still would like to avoid spending too much & regret later & hence the question. Tks.

A friends dad was called by a call centre exec of SCB mentioning that he will be given Rs.3 lac as overdraft facility to a bank of his choice in 2007 . He gave his consent, however SCB transfered just 85k in his account stating that he was not eligible for 3lac overdraft transfer.

His bank refused to accept the same as my friends dad had given instruction to them. Now SCB has charged processing fee of 1500/- which has not been paid also numerous calls have been made to SCB who accepted that this was a mistake but have not confirmed or communicated in writing. They have recently been charged about 4500 bucks as interest etc.

We (me and my friend) are planning to write a letter - a few queries:
1) Can we mention RTI in this - if so how?
2) Should we write a letter or send a copy to RTI?
3) Whom should we address this letter so that prompt action is taken?
4) Any particular point that I have to keep in mind before writing or while writing this letter

Cheers
