Re: The Credit Card Thread

ICICI had a slightly different reward points called "hand picked reward points" on few type of cards. Looks like they have discontinued that and merged with general credit points, which has so dismal conversion . Anyone in same boat, any idea? How does it compare to other leading cards?

Re: The Credit Card Thread

I have or used to have credit cards from the following banks:
ICICI, HDFC, SBI, Axis and Citibank. I am looking for credit card from some other bank. Can members recommend one or two banks with good credit card service, other than the banks listed above. Wide acceptance, good rewards schemes and complementary airport lounge access are my criteria. I would like to go only with large banks with long standing reputation.

Yes Bank (Marquee), Kotak (only the co-branded ones), IDFC, IndusInd, Standard Chartered, HSBC are some options.

But service in general is hit or miss for the Indian banks. Ruling out Amex because you said wide acceptance.

Std Chartered Ultimate

Std Chartered Ultimate has been my primary for a while. I've racked up a few lakh reward points over time and it just works when used outside India. I mostly use it for grocery, flights and hotels, yet the bank decided to halve my credit limit today. I'm not sure if I was singled out but otherwise happy that they haven't devalued the card and only changed the credit limit.

Re: The Credit Card Thread

Does Amex Platinum Travel card give lounge access to supplementary card holders? Most likely no based on what i read in other places, but wanted to confirm here if anyone has first hand experience. Received my card today, was wondering if i should apply for add-on.

Re: The Credit Card Thread

My Infinia metal is not working for international transactions even though the same has been enabled.

I was purchasing somethings from Amazon USA website and there was no debit transaction for the infinia card used. When I used magnus, the debit was instant and received a message as well. Both are visa infinite card.

Any insight into this is welcome as I have considerable purchase to put on infinia from the Amazon USA website.

Did you check the specific sub-limit for online transaction type? Apart from that the only reason I can think of is the security algorithm blocking it, in which case you have to contact cc to get it sorted.

I had a similar issue with my Axis cc and received a messages saying transaction has been declined due to security reasons, but it went away when I tried after a few days.

Spoke with CC, they are of no help. Sublimits for all types are max.

Not sure what to make of it.

Re: The Credit Card Thread

Recently I used my 4 different credit cards during my Netherlands/Germany visit and this is what is my experience:
1) HDFC DB - Worked flawlessly at all the places where I tried. This was my default card as 'Forex Markup Fee' is lowest with this card (2%+18%GST).
2) IDFC FIRST PLUS - Worked fine at the only place where I tried. Markup fee is 3.5%+18%GST.
3) SBI CACHBACK - Tried at only one place, but it did not work. Found later in the net that the Markup fee is 3.5%+18%GST.
4) ICICI AMAZON PAY - Tried at only one place, but it did not work. Found later in the net that the Markup fee is 3.5%+18%GST.

I was not aware of this program and when I checked it now, it is showing that the offer got expired in 31-MAR-2024. So, I might have missed it by a whisker.

HDFC is poor in keeping the website updated. Please send an email to customer care requesting to activate GVP, if you wish. They will activate it after getting email consent from you. If it is indeed removed, they will inform you.

Delhi man says he got Re 1 cashback from Cred after paying credit card bill of Rs 87,000

India is experiencing hyper growth and all players are investing heavily into acquiring customers, and it shows via the many outlets we have today to subsidize our purchase by investing before, during and after the transaction.

Amazon Pay gave me a tiny laddoo for having used them to pay a 5 figure credit card bill. I don't mind it as I received plenty of cash back from the credit card company and the seller itself. We are spoiled for choices today.

Re: The Credit Card Thread

I have been holding an HDFC Regalia/business regalia for over 5 years. With the recent changes in the airport lounge access rules I am facing a problem. I have spend over 3 lakhs in the past 4 months on this card, have paid all bills on time but I can't see any airport benefits added to my account. As per the smartbuy regalia webpage, I am eligible for 2 lounge access vouchers if I spend 1lakh in a quarter. When I login the page always says "benefit not eligible". Is it an error on their part or am I missing something? Anybody here has a similar experience?
