As per some of the newspaper reports , this discount is only at the PSU bunks :

State-run fuel companies will offer a discount of 0.75% to consumers when they buy petrol and diesel using debit or credit cards and other digital methods.

Buy petrol or diesel with your debit or credit card or e-wallet from a petrol pump which has a licence from a public sector unit (PSU), and you will soon get a discount of Rs 7.5 for every transaction of Rs 1,000

So how is HDFC card acceptance?
SBI cards used to have problem of acceptance long time back with their maestro cards as they needed a different (newer type) machine from what was prevalent back then. I don't why it should have any problems nowadays though.

As far as the HDFC cards are concerned they are either Visa or Mastercard (you can choose) and hence get accepted at all outlets that own an EDC machine. On top of that cards like Regalia gives you fab returns. Needless to say they do not have any fuel surcharge in any of the fuel outlets. This is irrespective of the brands, type of ownership, EDC machine used etc.

I think government is talking about PSU branded pumps for this initiative. I can understand this as private branded pumps like Shell or Essar or any other such can't be forced to give any discounts in price. Government can though mandate this for the PSU branded fuel outlets (IOC, HPC, BPC etc).

I have an IOC citibank card also, next i will use and see how it works.
I just checked my CC statements for last few months. I do not see any surcharges added to that. There is no entry for any surcharges or any refunds whatsoever. Only the actual expenses are there. So I dont think I've been paying any extra charges over what the actual bill at the filling station was. And I am pretty sure I was not charges anything extra for using card at the petrol bunks I frequent as I always get down from my car and keep an eye on the fuel dispenser for the amount of petrol and also for the bill that is being charged.

I have a Citibank Rewards Card. This is not a fuel branded card nor branded with any other product.

Are you facing issues with Amex cards at HP bunks. Here in Pune it is always a hit or miss. There is only one pump which i fill regularly, but inspite of AMEX being accepted, more often than not they seem to have problems with the card machine and i end up using other cards.

This happens especially when i fill for two wheelers, bigger amount (>1000) goes through without any hassles

Have raised it with Amex team as well, and they have promised a rosy 2017, so fngers crosed

Even i have the same card. Did you verify the statement against the transaction SMS you receive in your mobile? One of my SMS reads the amount as 1438.44 where as the final statement shows this as 1479.77.

Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

One point for all is - if you are looking for a card, then check for benefits that the card provider would have for employees of your organization.
Eg: I was checking out ICICI's Sapphiro card. The car has a joining fee of 6.5k and annual fees of 3.5k. Today their person says that the card is life-time-free for us. And this comes when I am waiting for delivery of a card from another bank. (Again, with a waiver of fees).

No problems with acceptance of SBI cards, since these are Visa / Master.

But Regalia does not look to have the same benefits as earlier. Other members have reported this.

Not the credit card thread, this one, but still let me answer that. There is now a Regalia First as well and that has far lesser benefits. Regalia continues to enjoy the same privileges. I have not seen anything major being dropped as such.

Over here in Delhi have never faced any issues and neither on NH8 towards and in Jaipur. Though due to machines being wireless at times getting a transaction through takes longer time.

But then I always go for 1000+ transaction.

Ok if that is the case then I can only check it next time I go for a refill! The last I did that was in October but I do not have the sms, neither the bill now to cross check the same.

Yes this is what I noticed yesterday.

Bill at petrol station amount = 1000 = card swiped ≠ statement amount which had additional rupees making it 1025. Lucky for me it was being refunded at about 23. The missing 2 being service tax.

Pretty sure its a POS issue where its configured against refund maybe? Happened as recent as 2 weeks back when I tanked up the Altis at nedumbakaserry IOC pump.

Re: The Credit Card Thread

I have a HDFC Jet privilege platinum credit card and Citibank rewards card. My limit on HDFC is above 3lakhs. I am looking to upgrade it to a better card in HDFC. Any suggestions? I found HDFC Regalia First and Jet Privilege World card interesting.

Even my HSBC Visa Credit card has the same issue of Rs 2 being not refunded due to service tax. But i use that card sparingly, and only when I go to non-IOC bunks.

I normally use my Citibank IndianOil credit card at IOC bunks that have a Citibank swiping machine, as that gives me free petrol after repeated usage. I usually get around 1000 to 2000 a year of free petrol. Good for my Suzuki Access.

I quit the JP co-branded card when it was a Citi product (I rarely fly Jet unless someone else is paying for it so all my miles were lapsing); they helpfully shifted me to a Premier Miles card. Now I get 4 miles per Rs. 100 spent, and approx. 45p per mile on flight bookings across all airlines. So a ticket that costs Rs. 5000 requires 11000 miles, or Rs. 2.75 lakh spent on the card. These miles don't expire either.

My family's annual Bangalore-Kochi-Bangalore tickets have been purchased courtesy this card for the past few years now.
