Be warned !!

Your Govt admits the coming problems...so it is up to the citizen - YOU - to contribute to very basic and simple science. This science is simpler that 2+2

Taxis, Buses go off road in Bangalore from July 1

Protesting against speed governor installation, Bangalore Tourist Taxi Owner Association has announced an indefinite strike from July 1.

I am gearing up to enjoy driving across Bangalore like I used to half a decade ago Till it lasts

I was very happy myself when i read this news. Time to bring out the car, and drive in peace.

To those who arent aware, this strike os because the government has made speed limiters mandatory for all cabs, trucks and buses, with the speed being limited to 65kmph. July 1st is the last date for the same, and hence the strike.

As Jaggu said, I hope it lasts for a week atleast. Bangalore will be a much better place.

Are the Cabbies on strike too?
Wish the Auto wallahs too join them!

It will be a bliss driving on Blore roads without these creatures!

I think discipline is more required than simply limiting speed.
Metro seems to be the only solution in this city.

I think installation of speed governors in commercial vehicles including taxis, lorries, schoolbuses, call centre vehicles is a very good move my the state government.
Further, the government has said no yellow-board vehicle be registered without speed governors starting July.

The speed governor kit costs Rs 15,000. Those vehicles found without the unit would be fined Rs 10,000.

Good move by the govt but... call me a skeptic but even at 65 kmph, accidents can be lethal. I agree with KPZen.

Besides, i am sure that our always innovative taxi wallas etc will find a way to disable the kit and yet keep it to avoid fines.

It's not the speed they're opposed to - it's the shelling out of 15000 bucks.

Wont be surprised if they roll it back though, it took a decade and three governments to enforce the helmet rule.

And the transport minister says the state owned Volvos are going to be exempt from the speed limiters!! .
Maybe thats because the govt. drivers are very well trained on road mannerisms or just that they would lose revenue.
