Yes, phamilyman, I guess you may be right there; but I had a word with the locals out there, and they accepted the fact that nearly half of the Delhi vehicles seen there were stolen vehicles; this had been found out in one of the police drives to nab such stolen vehicles.
Another fact about the vehicles in Leh was that alloys were surpisingly very popular - even load carriers such as TATA 207DI had alloys - I think it is easier to tie chains on alloys for travelling on snow. Probably that was the reason..
