hey arjun,

i have a similar problem, but a multiple one.One of the neighourhood cat has started a family under my ANHC. Everyday after i take my car out, they are also out. They come back by noon and play in our parking area.

After i get back home, they play and sleep under my ANHC & my spouse's car.

I have not tried to get rid of them, since cats's presence keeps away the other bad living things, like the rats, lizards and cockroaches away....by the way cats are known to be very clean.

have you tried using a good car cover or a thick blanket like HUMYUM suggestion...

personally i felt its MULTIPLE ADVANTAGES....so i have left the way it is (the cats never climb either of the two cars, so)

Quite a funny thread! Regarding these pepper sprays? won't your car then smell like pepper? I mean atleast on the outside.

I think a tight car cover is the best solution to his problem. But sometimes we like show our cars off by not covering them :-p

Speaking of having a cat over your bonnet....did you have one under your bonnet? I was driving my old Maruti 800 one day from Pathankot to Udhampur a few years back. I had reached about half way and the engine seemed to be missing a beat. That Maruti had a problem once with the fuel pump overheating in climbs and I thought, here it goes again! Maybe a little cooling might help - so I pulled over and opened the bonnet - and out jumped a cat! it was apparently sitting in that little cavity over the front shocker attachment. Not a kitten, but a full sized cat! Often wonder what happened to that cat - and whether it ever found it's way back to Pathankot?

Another experience with a cat was in Bathinda - I had a closed garage with a loft on top for storing excess luggage. Every day without fail, sometime in the morning, there would be a loud thump and when I checked, there was a dent on the roof of the same Maruti! Not a dent really - but anyway the end result was the top would be concave instead of convex. I had to thump the roof from the inside to straighten it out. But then the story would repeat the next morning. Took some time to figure out - a big fat cat had made it's residence in the loft and the car was the only stepping stone to success! Going up no dents, but on it's way down, it would jump on the roof first and then all the way down before hoofing it. Only solution was to close the garage - something which I didn't particularly like because of the racket involved in rolling the shutter down. Doesn't speak too well of the steel Maruti 800 uses though!

We have 3 cats at home and one of them likes to sleep under the bonnet. So usually once a month while cleaning the car (an Indica Turbo) I vaccum the sound deadening material on the bonnet to clean the hair left behind..........
We also had another cat that used to sleep on the rear tyre of our 800.....
But both cats used to scram as soon the car was unlocked or started in the morning(They r quite intelligent).....so it was not an issue really....

Cats love clean premises, so best solution will be to leave the cars & parking lot dirty.

cat trouble! urgent help needed

Hi friends,
Am facing a really weird problem, yesterday morning when i tried to start the car there was a severe vibration and sound. i understood its the spark plug prob and when i removed the wire on top of 2 spark plugs, i found no change, so it was those 2 plugs gone bad. i checked it at night, with out adequate lighting.
Today morning mechanic came and he started laughing loud seeing my engine! I was sitting inside the car to unlock the bonnet then. I thought my mechanic is seeing an engine for the first time! When i went there i was shocked to see 2 kittens sleeping happily on top of the engine. Then it ran down and disappeared. The mechanic told there is no problem with spark plug. Problem was that the wire attaching got loosened because the cats are moving here and there in the tight engine bay. He clearly warned me not to let them enter the bay again. I am really unable to do that. I have no idea on how to keep them away from my car. Its getting inside again and again even if i scare them.

Friends, please help me out. this is a full family of mother cat, father cat and 2 kids! please give me solutions. Please at the earliest.

PS:
Its a car problem and happened under my car hood! so mods i guess am posting under the right section

Thanks a lot in advance for sorting out my problem

EDIT: The car am talking about is getz

There is a 37-page thread on a similiar problem - but one caused by rats
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/techni...-car-rats.html

Maybe some of solutions provided them may help.

Do ignore one of the solutions to keep a cat in the engine bay to scare away the rats.

For rats, at least i can keep rat poison and stuffs. But cat is entirely different and difficult. anyway thanks a lot for suggesting this post.

There's a similar thread already for this & you may want to go through it for some solution - http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/street...ff-my-car.html

my car is also an victim of cat trouble, but not much in mechanicals, but in exterior. There was lots of scratches in bonnet and side doors near glass window, i wondered where it came from, but one fine day i saw an cat jumping on bonnet , here and there to catch insects, when i have parked my car in my house.

I have thrown stone once, and whenever i see it, i will throw a big stone, because it ruined the car. the problem decreased, but the cat is still around the place. I dont know how to send out of my place?

It would be easier if the cat was on top of the hood! unfortunately as the section tells, its "under the hood" ! If its on hood, we can see them properly at any time. But under hood, its really difficult, and an entirely different problem from the solution link you provided. To find and take some action like pouring water on the cat after opening the hood will take more time and by the time cat escapes! We have to some how stop it from entering and not scaring!

They like the warmth of engine bay and find it a cozy place to sleep. Some solutions:

1. Park your car in a closed garage if possible.
2. Adopt the cat family and give them some place in your home.
3. Adopt a dog.
4. [Tried and tested method by me] Grab the whole cat family, put them in a cardboard box (with holes for air) , put this box in your car and go for a long drive. Open the box and leave them free at a place where they can enjoy/survive (eg. nearby fish market etc).

Thanks dude,
solution (1)am doing my college and staying away from home in a rented house near college. and my owner would be more than happy throw me out if i ask for a closed garage!

solution (2) cat family is not waiting to talk to me regarding the adoption agreements ! it just start running in 4 different directions as soon as they see me.

solution (3) adopting a dog is a nice idea, in fact i started the mission of searching, but everybody is asking me to get a puppy and not a grown up one. and am pretty sure my puppy will get scared by the cat family! anyway this solution is taken seriously. will see if i can get slightly grown up one

solution (4) the entire cat family don't believe in any talks with me. may be because i scare them whenever i get a chance. so catching them and transferring is next to impossible!
