Highly possible that the clerk entering the details into the system couldn't find the correct model and just updated it as a 320d.

For example, my Premier padmini RC came back as 118NE, RD350 came back as Bullet 350 and CBR900 as CBR150 with 186CC and Weight as 919kg.

And if you can help me with the contact details of the current owner or the garage holding it then nothing like it.

Iconic Land Rover Defender 110 abandoned in Chennai

A Land Rover Defender 110 has been abandoned and left to rust in Chennai. This SUV is known for its ruggedness and versatility.

Attachment 2040911

The 5-door version of the legendary off-roader has missing door handles and a part of the 'Land Rover' badge has also disappeared. There are also 'TDI' and '110' decals at the rear and on the front fenders, where 110 refers to the wheelbase (2,794 mm). It also has 'Intercooler Turbo' stickers on the side. This Defender is finished in Maroon and has a white roof. Interestingly, this classic SUV also has a rear defogger.

This particular car seems to be powered by a 2.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine. The Defender also came with 2.25-litre petrol and diesel engines as well as 2.5-litre petrol and diesel engines. A 3.5-litre V8 petrol engine was also offered. The SUV came in a 3-door body style, as a 2-door pickup truck and a 3-door van.

The new generation of the Defender was unveiled in September 2019. The SUV will be sold in India and bookings are open.

Chennai has many such abandoned vehicles. Most are abandoned because the owner's do not bother to renew the papers when it comes to paying the taxes etc. Recently when I was in Chennai, spotted a white , (with an aftermarket wrapped black roof), 1987 BMW 525i SE, straight-6, RHD, abandoned underneath the G.N. Chetty Road flyover (opp the new multistoried boutique). Vehicle is not in bad shape and looks very much restorable.

What a sad sight to see! This vehicle has so much potential. If someone could devote time and money, and go the restoration way or the modification way, and transform it into the iconic machine it is.

Defenders are aluminum bodied and don't rust so much. The main reason why many are still running today.

Cheers

The little amount of dust on the car & the residue air in the running tyres makes me doubt if it is indeed "abandoned". Perhaps its just the lock-down effect. Or the owner has some other priorities and not finding time to repair & clean the car since a couple of months. Doesn't seem to be rotting for too long as such. In good shape by the looks of it externally.

Re: Pics: Imports gathering dust in India

Missing door handles and the wipers suggest that it could be an abandoned classic.

Apart from papers, I guess spare parts procurement might be a big hurdle for these cars. Hopefully it will be rescued.

Just like Reinhard said, even I feel that this car is not an abandoned one. It might be up for some repair job or has just been sitting there due to the lockdown. As he correctly pointed out, there's very little dust on the car and tyres too haven't deflated by a huge margin.

Re: Pics: Imports gathering dust in India

Its sad to see Iconic Defender in this condition. LR Defender have so much potential and one cannot be left abonden like this. Wish the owner spends some time to get it back in running condition.
Petrolheads are hawking for this, if this is put up for sale, that too after the DQ/Pritiv's latest Defender acquisition, The market for defender has boosted and owner can sell this like a hotcake for a nice price tag.

Damn! I wish someone rescued this one. With suspension lift and ARB parts this can be easily turned into a reliable and economical cross country tourer.

One question. Why does the vehicle have two different registration plates on the front and back? 222 vs 0404?
Maybe this is a restoration project hit by covid? But why have two different plates? To hide the actual details of the car?

It seems the number plate is edited in MS Paint or Photoshop. The pattern of repeated numbers and alphabets in the other Range Rover's plate in the source link indicate so.

Re: Pics: Imports gathering dust in India

A Porsche Cayenne has been gathering dust alongside a small workshop in Thanisandra - Bangalore. Have been seeing this vehicle in the same state for the last 6 months and from the looks of it - the air suspension is shot. The rain gods have been kind enough to clean the dust off the car ..hence looks relatively neat. Hate to see such an iconic vehicle in a state of neglect.

Well, I see this Land Rover almost every week as it is on the lane where our company’s guest house is. I have even enquired about this to the security guys who didn’t seem to know much about the ownership and say that it has been lying around for a few years. But for something that has been abandoned for quite some time, the vehicle seems to be in a much better physical condition. Taking the abuse well because it is a Land Rover?
