OT post - Mods, please move or delete the post if required.

Someone just decided to scroll though the last 2 pages of this thread and publish a blog without even citing Team-BHP as source

That 1st gen X5 has been lying there for more than a year. A few meters ahead there is also a Audi Q7 in a worse shape than this. A decade ago - the X5 ("with those amazing wheels") was a hot topic on TeamBHP.

Thanks to Swapnil for sending these pics in. Heartfelt gratitude for sharing them with other enthusiasts via this Team-BHP page!

Chevrolet Forester abandoned on the Western Express highway (near Sai Dham, Kandivali). It's a CBU, hence fits on this thread:

Oh man! I really liked this car and see a few of them on Bangalore roads. Even today I invariably stop and watch this car for old times sake! Probably someone rescues and restores it.

Interesting, I am seeing Subaru Forester here in US regularly, so it first struck me what is a Chevrolet Forester.

Then a bit of Google says this:

So its the same car !

For a short while, GM owned or had a significant share in Subaru which they later sold to Toyota

The parking space in front of Shivajinagar police station has been occupied by seized vehicles belonging to Deepak Sakharam Kulkarni (DSK), his companies and family since the past year and a half.

DSK, the city-based real estate developer, has been accused of financial irregularities and siphoning off investor funds and is currently behind bars.

The 19 cars include six Toyota Innovas, one each of Qualis, Santro, Volkswagen, Audi, BMW and Porsche, and one MV Agusta bike among others. The embossed logos of the high-end vehicles have been found ripped off at the station property, while the vehicles gather dust.

Re: Pics: Imports gathering dust in India

That 640d GC was a demo car if I am not wrong, later sold to DSK.

There's one more Forester lying close to the eastern express high way somewhere around Tilak Nagar with a bunch of other cars like a Camry and Accord.

On the Mankhurd-Navi Mumbai road? Apart from the ones you mentioned, the most painful one out there is a W201.

Re: Pics: Imports gathering dust in India

Found these cars in Nashik. They were parked in a car wash / mechanic shop.

Appears to be an old BMW E3 / New Six. The rims seem to be from the Bavaria variant though. Behind it is a Toyota Cynos.
The Cynos is an automatic and both seem to be abandoned.
The security person said that they were running a few years back (not sure how many).

Also, the BMW has had its engine and transmission removed. Body is rusting away too and the inside is trashed. The instrument cluster is still there though it may not work, judging from the rest of the car.

Similar model car, with different rims (for reference).

So restoration wont cost a lot, no?

Doesnt that mean that it will be worth much more once/if restored?

It is not cheap to restore a car in that condition. I've had my share of experience restoring old bmw's and it gets expensive really quickly!

Whether, a car will be more valuable after restoration depends on how the restoration was done. Not sure about classic car buyers in India though, others will chime in.

AH! I see the Chevrolet Forester is being mentioned here
Here are some pics of a couple of very clean Foresters I spotted recently!

Pics: Imports gathering dust in India-img_6240.jpg
I wonder whether this is a genuine Subaru or a just a re-badged Chevrolet Forester!

Why are these cars left to rot. Are they available through auction or for resale and if yes, is there an online resource to check for this?
