That is not a badged Prado(technically it is a Prado as it uses the same chassis and body shell), it sold as by Lexus as LX470 in US & north America as Pardo's are not sold in US. The main line of SUV's sold by Toyota are 4runner, FJ Cruiser, Highlander, Landcruiser, Rav4 & Sequoia. Unlike how some Landcruisers are re-badged in India.

, It is not only the badge but many other components that go in to turn it into a Lexus. The other thing that people forget is that Lexus is only available in Petrol. So if you have a Diesel Lexus it is a Toyota underneath.

I guess what grangkriozer meant was that the Prado too has its equivalent in the Lexus brand and its called the GX470.

The L-badged LC's will still have their diesel engine underneath, the steering / glasses will still the T logo / Toyota written all over, it wont have automatic hieght control, a Mark Levison music system among many other things.

RAV4 is a toyota product. Mitsubishi had the mini Pajero (coupe) and a smaller one forgot the model name.

Thats exactly what I meant. The Lexus GX470 is built on Prado platform ie. chasis, body etc.

Do agree that, a toyota land cruiser(j12 platform) in the middle east/ Japan is a lexus across the atlantic, ie gX470 ..
Prado is not marketed or sold in USA as a Prado. so the initial argument holds true. Prado is not sold in US as a prado.

4-runner and Prado use 'similar' chassis do note that its not the same as the Prado is longer, higher and narrower (thinner). They have totally different body shells and interiors but they are in the same category.

The only thing both of them have in common is the V6 engine (engine code: 1GR-FE). 4runner also has V8 version which uses 2UZ-FE and Prado currently in production uses 1KD-FTV for the diesel variant.
