Don't know if its worthy of a post here, but saw a Ssanyyong (or should I say Mahindra? ) Kyron today. Had BP plates. I'm guessing its an embassy car or something. Didn't bother taking a picture. If you want to gag, look it up!

Great pics Rohin!!

Ok guys I know this is not as exciting as the yellow raging bull that I am yet to spot . But this is not that bad either. A very old and not so well maintained 316i. It brings back lots of memories. Nevertheless I love the car.

@GTI_WR6: The SL belongs to Babi Nobis. You're talking about the SL63 AMG right?
If you can get to meet the Lambo owner then you can also meet Babi and vice versa Plus, you might just get to see another Ferrari (apart from Babi's) etc etc

Oh that would be amazing. Are you talking about the 355 Spider?

Red M3 is still parked in the showroom - saw it yesterday.

Fiat launched the 500 in India to burnish its image. I am not sure as to whether the Beetle was launched to promote ( improve) the sagging image of VW or simply to stamp the presence of VW around the time the Polo ( and subsequently the Vento) was launched, as the Passat and Jetta were (and continue to be) minority tastes. VW was not very well known or recognised outside the t-bhp cognoscenti!

The Beetle has a more effective image as compared to the 500; that does not necessarily imply that it is superior to the other.

Spotted a red Beetle today. The driver was apparently driving it around Hungerford Street all day!

Well, you're right about everything else, except what I've marked in bold.

VW is in fact one of the most popular brands, not only in India, but all over the World. And what skyrocketed the VW brand over the last few decades was the Beetle alone.

VW was not recognized for any thing else other than the Beetle, before the Polo, Jetta, Vento, Touareg made their way into our market. It's pretty evident by the number of classic Beetles we see almost everyday on our roads.

True, the Beetle has a more effective image in India, and that harks back to the number of classic Beetles we see on a daily basis. And VW introduced the new Beetle without any restriction on sales and that's why it seems more popular than the Fiat 500.

I did not imply that the Beetle was superior than the Fiat 500. The reason why we see more Beetles is because it's the more popular car, and there isn't any restriction on sales either; as opposed to Fiat's 500, which was restricted to only 500 units.

My idea is that the 500 would have done better than the Beetle largely because it was a good 6-7 lakhs lesser on the road. But because the number of 500s for India was limited, we see far lesser 500s.
