Alrite its a bit boxy in proportions and overpriced but its got a stonker of a hand built AMG V8 and those SLR like side exhausts etc..etc..

And I think Mercedes is not looking to sell the G55 in Volumes. I know there is something missing in it but it definitely is an Exclusive Mafiaso Vehicle for our streets.

I know everyone is entitled to their own opinion,but lets not be too vociferous over it.Personally i will choose the G55 AMG over a Audi Q7 or a Range Rover anyday.

A person who can own a G55 can also own or might also own a Audi q7 or Range rover or let it be anything for that matter.It is just his passion towards the car.Though I have not driven g55, I can say it surely has X factor in it .A person who is planning to own one will know more about it. They will shout that youve arrived.
I love the looks of the q7, the sheer presence of it.

But the gelande, that is the BEAST.
Its the most capable car you can buy this side of a nemesis.

Basically apples, and umm...aliens maybe, not even oranges, so lets not argue, or try and put one up over the other.

The G though, is ALWAYS bought not using the head, if you know what i mean.

Ahem, it's probably because the G55 AMG is a petrol-head's SUV (the G-Class itself being the preferred tool for mountain goats), while the Q7s and the Range Rovers you see around you, run on that dirty fuel people call 'diesel'. Whenever a company makes a huge car, like a SUV, the diesel variant tends to sell a lot more than the petrol variant.

At least, in a market like India's.

Selling this car in large numbers is not really priority for Mercedes.

They know, just like real enthusiasts, that there is no competition for a SUV like the G55 AMG.

About 500 horses made by a supercharged V8 mated to a body-on-frame chassis that has 'go-anywhere' abilities is something I haven't seen in any car.

So when people want to buy a car like this, they don't bother looking at anything else. For all you know, they already have everything else.

I just voiced my opinion too. I find it quite funny when people talk about sales volumes of such cars. Andhrite mentality or not, I don't see the G55 AMG selling on par with Q7s and Rangies anywhere in the world. It would be quite silly to talk about sales of such cars, and having phrases like "What was Mercedes thinking when they launched it here" and "It looks like a beefed-up Bolero" being said.
