The RR Crash happened right after the MG road border while coming towards gurgaon. After the border there is a cut that goes to the gurgaon-faridabad road, apparently he crashed right into that divider.

Saw the RR being towed, phone didn't have battery so couldn't click. It was saturday at 2:30AM around a month ago.

Felt like crying, to be honest!

Life in the fast lane might be fun for some, but dangerous for others as this accident proved. A rashly driving youngster in a high-speed car kills one, injures other

An audacious, party-loving 27-year-old who allegedly drove a high-speed luxury car fatally knocked down a biker and seriously injured his friend, Vastrapur police said. The driver absconded after the accident. Three seconds is all it took for the speeding BMW car said to be driven by Vismay Shah to snuff out the life of 25-year-old Shivam Dave who was pillion-riding on his friend Rahul Patel's motorbike. Rahul is fighting for his life in hospital.

Shivam, who lived at Sagar Apartments in Bodakdev, was a diploma civil engineering student and got engaged a couple of months back. The BMW 730Ld with a Chandigarh registration number (CH-01-AE-9360) is registered in the name of Vismay Shah, son of Dr Amit Shah, Regional Transport Office (RTO) sources said. The Shahs live in bungalow no 13 at Mangalyam Cooperative Housing Society, near Nehrunagar. After the incident, the BMW driver reportedly left in a car driven by a woman that came soon afterwards.

Ahmedabad Mirror has exclusive video footage of the incident that happened late on Sunday night near Premchandnagar circle. The speeding BMW 730Ld (CH-01-AE-9360) was coming from Judges Bungalow road when it hit a biker who was coming from Mansi crossroads turned near the Premchandnagar circle.

Eyewitnesses said the biker and the pillion rider were flung at a distance, while the car driver rammed into a tree, near a dairy parlour. The speed can be gauged from the impact it had on the full grown tree that was almost uprooted. Bystanders said the car was travelling around 120 to 150 kph.

Poor one sided reporting. While the car in question may have indeed been going fast, what about the speed at which the bikers were taking a turn and any other circumstances?
This is clearly a case of 'blame laid at the door of the bigger, more expensive vehicle'. There is a certain ' commie' feel about this report especially with the mention of the car driver's family, address etc and in a sense covertly comparing it by 'inference' to the 'poorer middle class' biker...

Quite right, Sir.

While there is no question that the driver of the BMW was breaching his personal limit and the limits of the road, is there a need to portray him as an 'audacious' person or a 'party lover'? What are they trying to say? That a soft-spoken and conservative person is incapable of driving a car fast? Is there an absolute need to reveal the address of the accused? Is there something wrong with a person if he likes to go to parties?

Also, was the biker completely in the right? The car was being driven way too fast and the driver definitely deserves to be punished. But I also believe that one should have the presence of mind to be aware of your surroundings.

Media is a great tool for the purpose of getting information across. But it has started to get out of hand now.

I fully agree with this. Media these days, especially TOI in particular is notorious for publishing such news. "Drunk BMW driver", "speeding Audi driver" etc. If it were a Maruti 800 that killed the bikers, the article would have been not more than 50 words and that too in a column on the side of some page.

Publishing the registration details and the residential address of the owners is another recipe for disaster. Can we now expect some morcha or strike outside their house? Or is it to infuriate people to go there and pelt stones?

Such reporting started with the infamous "BMW Hit and Run Case" by Sanjeev Nanda of New Dehli. It seems the case was more the fault of BMW than the person who was driving it! Just google "BMW Hit and Run case" and you will get about 22.3 million results. Google "Sanjeev Nanda" and you get only about 600,000!

It also seems that bystanders who witnessed this accident that the car was doing 120-150 kmph. How can they be so sure? It is difficult to tell the speed of the car just by watching it pass! Of course, they had to support their claim of the accused being 'Audacious' and a 'Party lover', so he could obviously not have been doing 50 kmph.

In recent times, media has lost complete credibility, and it is sad to see that a publication with the repute of TOI would publish such a poorly worded article.

A high moralistic tone old chap.
We as a people love to get into pulpit mode and pontificate and point fingers.
We also love to assume a holier than thou attitude with most things too...

Sheer hypocrisy as always... Welcome to India...

Re: Supercars & Imports : Hyderabad

Saw a badly smashed Black Freelander 2 opp Basavataraka cancer hospital in Banjara hills today around 1 30 pm. The right portion of the vehicle took a bad hit, the rear axle was broken with the rear right Tyre tilted side ways. the wind shield was also broken and both the front airbags opened up..

Looked like the driver tried to negotiate the sharp curve in front of the hospital at a very high speed.Any one has details on this ??

That's a bad crash . But with all due respect, I don't believe it belongs in this thread.

Mods - Please move it to the Import Crashes thread.

Re: Supercars & Imports : Hyderabad

That's definitely a bad crash. Looking at the pictures, FR2 did roll over on its left side.

Speeding at that stretch of the road along with undulations in the surface of the road, does make vehicles bounce / roll quite a bit. More on an SUV.

Cheers,
Ardy

Just curious to know how the car rolled over on its left side and not damage the outside rear view mirror

Foxbat, good observation. Like I said, I am gauging by looking at the picture. Look at the damage on the left side roof. I could be wrong as well. It could have also hit some concrete structure.

Cheers,
Ardy

Re: Supercars & Imports : Hyderabad

Bad Crash !! But i think the passengers are fine.. The glasses are not completely shattered and the interiors are still good.

But i was wondering, "if the same would have happened to high end indian SUVs ( Safari,Fortuner,CRV etc...... ) would there have been much worse consequence or would be same?"

Since I cannot guage the exact impact of the crash i hope its not the case that the FR2 mangled like this from a small scale impact.IMHO

After all ppl buy these machines giving Safety as top priority .

re: Supercar & Import Crashes in India

The Bangalore city police on Monday said that they had arrested the son of a businessman and film producer on the charge of culpable homicide not amounting to murder after he allegedly rammed a brand new Audi into an autorickshaw on M.G. Road here in the early hours of Sunday, killing a passenger and injuring two others.

Rajesh L. Reddy (21), a Christ University graduate set to go to the U.K. for higher studies, is the son of Indiranagar resident Lokesh Reddy.

The police said that Rajesh and his three friends were on their way to the Empire Hotel in Shivajinagar around 2.30 a.m. to pack food for his mother Prema Reddy’s birthday party. The Audi Q7, registered in Ms. Reddy’s name, had been bought barely three days ago and had only a temporary registration number.

Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) M.A. Saleem said that CCTV footage showed the car tearing away at 150 kmph, which amounted to “rash and negligent driving”. “Moreover, the accused could have helped the victims to hospital but they fled the scene, which shows their irresponsibility,” he said.

The crash killed Deepak (26), while his cousin Karthik (25) and autorickshaw driver Yunus Ali (26) were grievously injured when the high-end car, coming from Trinity Junction on M.G. Road, crashed into the auto, which was turning right at Mayo Hall junction.

The impact of the crash was such that the occupants had to be pulled out with great effort from the mangled autorickshaw. The three-wheeler overturned, while the car spun and crashed into a metro rail column.

Deepak and Karthik, both pub employees, were returning home from work in the auto.

While the occupants of the Audi made themselves scarce abandoning their car, it was Syed Khaleel, driver of an autorickshaw passing by, who rushed the three to Bowring Hospital.

“We suspect that Rajesh could have had drinks and we are going to subject him to medical examination,” Ashok Nagar police said.

The police had to wait for the Regional Transport Office to open on Monday to track down the car owner.

Let's see Audi showcase this Q7 in Race 3.

But anyway, Bangalore Traffic Police had posted the video of this accident earlier on their Facebook page.

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=457428041007979

I watched the video. I can safely say that the Auto driver was at fault for causing the accident, though the Q7 did add to the magnitude of the accident. The only reason the Audi is being cornered is because the auto is the smaller vehicle, it's a High-End SUV and the Audi was speeding.

Watch the video and you'll see that even if the Q7 was at a speed of 60kmph, the same accident would've occurred. The auto guy gets into the intersection without bothering to slow down at the intersection to check if the road is clear. It's 2AM and it's pitch dark, the LED lights from the Q7 can be seen quite clearly in the video even before he gets to the intersection. I'm not sure what the auto driver was thinking when he thought he could cross the road safely. If he had just waited for about 5 seconds to check if the road was clear, we wouldn't be discussing this right now.

If a bike was there in place of the Audi, it would have been the Auto driver's fault. Although the Q7's driver and his passenger fleeing the scene could clearly indicate drunken driving or maybe even plain fear.

These autos also are extremely weak, have no real safety measures in place and the three wheels don't really help its balance either. They should really do something to improve the condition of these autos.

And these RTO guys must be the more hopeless souls on the planet. Can't the Traffic Police obtain details about the vehicle? RC Book from the vehicle, some database they have access to? The Q7 driver had even left his phone in the car! How long would've it taken to take down the phone number, go to the operator and get details? Clear case of laxity from the Traffic Police. On that note, the Inspector has been suspended for his handling of the same case.

That being said, RIP to the deceased soul, fellow passenger is critically injured while the driver may have to have his leg amputated. Let's hope they recover to full health.

Good point Ashwin the auto guy should have checked before moving forward but the q7 guy shouldnt have been driving that fast through an intersection either. Maybe mistakes made by both resulting in a death. May his soul RIP
