Re: Ducati Monster 796 ownership

Do post in some snaps and looks like you had a fantastic weekend. Acute corners guess require more attention and better line to tackle them. Hope you hitting the apex of corners for better entry and smoother exit.

Folks,
Any idea when the annual Nandi Hill Climb is scheduled for or has the event been scrapped altogether?

Re: Ducati Monster 796 ownership

Folks,

There's lot of talk about higher compression engines requiring higher octane and all that stuff but haven't found a convincing answer to that yet. I believe there are a lot of parameters which define the usage of high octane fuel - heavy usage of the bike in higher rpms is one. If someone can really enlighten once and for all how Speed 97 really benefits a 11:1 or higher compression engine and on what all parameters, that would be a great great help!

The bike Currently is running on Shell super and its not yet empty.
Would like to try Speed 97 for the next fill up to check out any noticable differences.

What does the operating manual state? Know for sure that HD suggests to go in for premium/speed petrol. Would that octane be rated 91 or 93?

Manual states 95 octane. Premium fuels available here are 91 octane in purest form (so I heard)

If manual suggests 95 Octane then do give it a shot with Octane 97. Nagpal's Garage off Residency Road (after St Joseph's college/opposite to Hotel Empire) should be a good bet where you can get it. Am not quite sure but have heard of another bunk where they do sell 97 rated petrol. Will PM if i get hold of the details.

A bit strange since majority of makers suggest 91 Octane.

Re: Ducati Monster 796 ownership

Gorgeous.

Well i am in this super confused state and then your thread pops up in front of me. Feels like the monster love in me has not subsided.

A bit on my story. I wanted a bike and was confused between the Sv650 and the monster 696 as a starter bike. But the suzuki was scratched out of the list due to it being always considered a starter bike and somem financing issues but the monster prevailed.

Now here began the torture. I went to the Ducati showroom today evening, in the hope of finding some information and the sales guy then introduced me to this bike. Perfect fit, 1k more than the 696 and also has lots of fun as compared to its younger sibling and looks as gorgeous to the older sibling.

The thought of getting a sv has been totally demolished now and so the work to get this home is on. Hope things work out and am crossing my fingers for the same. The monster series bikes sounds real good. Its a roar and suits its name.

I was thrilled like a boy in a candy store when i visited the dealer and he pampered me further by letting me sit on the Diavel!! What a bike and it sounds gorgeous.

The video below was the unvieling of this bike in the dealers place. What fun!

Re: Ducati Monster 796 ownership

One query finally: 696 vs 796: What would you recommend to a new rider?
