Loved it! I also see a shiny, ol' blue Karizma next to your GS. Seems its been kept well too. Cheers from a v1 Zma owner.

That is a significant difference. Thanks for this detail. I just noticed how feeble the stock brake lights are on my 1250 gs. I will order the B6 brake light as well.

I have the Denali fog lights, but I am not sure about the can bus interface. Did you buy that separately, or was it included with the lights?

The Cansmart is a separate item, its not included with any lights.

How do you turn on your foglights now? - If it is by pressing the indicator switch then it will be routed through a cansmart. If you have a separate with then probably not.

You can also check by checking under the rear seat - it will be visible if it has been installed.

Thanks for your response.

My fog lights turn on along with the headlights. Previous owner has it programmed it for flashing strobe lights when I double tap highbeam, it looks like a cop's bike. I assume he did it with cansmart. I see bunch of cables under the seat, but nothing that looks like the adapter that says "cansmart". I don't think I have it, not sure how he programmed the lights.

It seems like it is programmed using the cansmart. You can switch on the bike and press and hold the indicator cancel switch for about 5 seconds. If it is through the cansmart then the lights should switch off.

You bike could also be using a hexcan which is the same thing just without the denali branding. It would be a silver colour device.

Re: BMW R1250GS Adventure Pro MY2020 - Style HP - The Comprehensive Review

Narsingh Bagh Resort, Ram Sagar Lake, Bari, Dholpur, Rajasthan Trip - 734 kms - 03rd to 05th February 2023

Did a 2 night short trip of 734kms to a very beautiful and slightly hidden resort at Ram Sagar Lake/Reservoir in Bari, Rajasthan. Bari is about 34kms from Dholpur on a small link road connecting it to Dholpur. The last 10 odd kms are just beautiful territory for our bikes. This resort is owned by the Dholpur Palace group i.e the Scindia's (Vasundhra Raje ji) and this place also has her personal bungalow in a part of the property.

So all ready at the night before departure, as usual -

The bike prepped up. Used the Rear Aluminium Box's inner waterproof luggage on the rear seat this time around. It comes with all the straps to neatly tie it down to the pillion seat and also acts as a backrest for my lower spine. I am 55 now...lolz

En-route break on the Agra Expressway. Had a major problem immediately after starting from Meerut. More on that later...

Reached our lovely resort in the early evening. Here's a look at our room -

And a view of our room from the outside. Extremely beautiful rustic setting in the middle of nowhere -

And what a Sunset we witnessed there besides the Ram Sagar Lake. It was just breathtaking - That is why we ride...

Idyllic setting all around. Notice the machaan...

And the nights were so peaceful, we could hear only nature... and even the stars twinkling...

Next morning. There were 6 of us who initially started and reached from Meerut -

The issue - Here's my bike in the photo below. As you will notice from the red arrow that I have marked, that is a Interceptor 650 battery strapped there. Immediately after starting from Meerut on Day 1, we had stopped to take a break and I had turned my bike off. On resuming our trip, my bike refused to start. It would crank up weakly but did not start. I immediately realised it is some battery issue. I opened up the battery compartment and saw there was some carbon deposit on the negative terminal, which I cleaned up thoroughly. But the bike still refused to start, perhaps because I had cranked the battery multiple times and the battery had lost it's charge. So 2 of my friend's with me searched and brought a electrician from a nearby shop, who got along a Fiat battery and we tried doing a jump start. The bike came to life immediately. What a relief!! Now everything seemed normal but I was afraid that if my battery was somehow damaged internally, the bike might not restart next time around. Took some wires from the electrician for the trip ahead so I could jump start on my own with one of my buddies help, if needed. Then one of my friend suggested picking up a spare battery in case we needed to change it. There was no time to call BMW RSA so we opted for the next best thing.

My friend knew a Royal Enfield dealer at Greater Noida, which was enroute anyways. And as I have already mentioned previously in this thread, that the Interceptor 650's 14Ah battery is a perfect match for our BMW's. So we reached the dealership, planning to pick up a new Interceptor 650 battery and there I switched OFF my bike.

The Moment of Truth - I cranked my bike. And Voila... it came to life immediately in half a crank, and that is with the original battery still attached. I cranked multiple times after that and the result was the same. So there was nothing wrong with the original battery. It was just not charging properly due to the deposits on the negative terminal which I had since cleaned up. And the battery must have fully charged up on it's journey to Greater Noida. Just in case, I still got the Interceptor 650 battery from the dealer friend (and I am most Thankful for him for that) to keep as a backup on this long trip, in case anything goes wrong again with the battery.

So next morning I again cranked and the bike came to live in half a crank as usual. As you can see in this photo, the new Interceptor battery remained bungee tied to the rear carrier for the entire trip back to Meerut, without any further issues. Thank God... Khoda Pahaad... Nikli Chuhiya... Lolz

Back to the trip - As I mentioned, 6 of us started from Meerut on day 1

Ram Sagar lake is filled with hundreds of huge crocodiles. And we were fortunate enough to sight many, here is one basking in the sunshine right here on our property... Surreal...

Had a lovely bonfire in the night, under pin drop silence and an absolutely clear night sky, where every star was visible. Shared our adventure stories with buddies. Incidentally one of our Ducati Diavel rider ran out of petrol on the Agra Expressway. Damn Ducati for not providing and fuel gauge on the Diavel! Luckily he had push only for a few hundred meters before we reached a fuel bunk. But adventure it was, pushing a 2 ton bike uphill on flyover...lolz

On the 2nd day afternoon, 2 more of our buddies joined in from Meerut, and then we were 8 -

Finally bid goodbye after 2 nights and started the journey back. It was without any events, though I did touch speeds on the expressway, which I can't mention on open forums. Back enroute on the expressway -

Finally reached home on the 3rd day afternoon with 734 kms on the trip odo. The bike is still doing low mileage due to multiple bikes in the garage.

The original battery is now working fine till date. Here's the Interceptor battery that I got from my friend. Being tested and charged for another day...

Re: BMW R1250GS Adventure Pro MY2020 - Style HP - The Comprehensive Review

Battery Changed 14-12-2023 @Rs. 3200/-

The old battery finally died on me completely and I got it changed by an Exide one model XLTX14 from the Interceptor 650 -

BMW R1250GS Adventure Pro MY2020 - Style HP - The Comprehensive Review-exide-battery-changed-14122023_rs3200_1.jpg

Same 14Ah specs
BMW R1250GS Adventure Pro MY2020 - Style HP - The Comprehensive Review-exide-battery-changed-14122023_rs3200_2.jpg

The old and new one together. The original one is around 15k at the BMW workshop while this Exide one is Rs. 3200/- less 300 for old battery i.e. net Rs. 2900/-. And don't be confused by any naysayers, it works perfectly and is a direct replacement.
BMW R1250GS Adventure Pro MY2020 - Style HP - The Comprehensive Review-exide-battery-changed-14122023_rs3200_3.jpg

Went on a 100kms ride with my son in law after changing the battery. Worked flawlessly and perfectly. Also suddenly, I feel the bike to be more peppy and taut. Perhaps due to all it's systems receiving the correct and full voltage now, which it was not receiving for sometime.
