Thanks for sharing your test ride experience and the pictures. Im quite surprised to hear that the pillion grab handles are being removed so soon from the Trident. I dont recall any other big bike launch in recent times where the manufacturer removed a basic feature (if we can call it that!) so soon and then charged extra for it, on subsequent batches. What next? Removing the front mud guard and charging Rs 7,500 for it? Let me stop here, or else someone at Triumph India will get an idea for his / her next presentation on how to improve profitability in the next quarter!

Also, on the Kerala prices of the Trident, there are some suspicious elements that have been padded in. The Triumph showroom has a mysterious CBU import charge of Rs 6,000 which is applicable only in Kerala and only at the Triumph dealership. It isnt there in any other big bike dealership in Kerala. The dealership must be importing the bikes from abroad specially for Kerala customers, instead of sourcing it from Triumph India

There is also a Rs 10,000 charge that is baked into the road tax that you have to reverse calculate and find out is present. It includes a full tank of fuel and bike polish. So that is Rs 16,000 that can be waived off the on road price.

It’s crazy the way these foreign players are increasing the price. Recently it’s the Honda and now Triumph. Triumph must have got encouragement after seeing Honda’s insane price hike on CBR650R. I hope the local players build quality bikes with reasonable price to compete with these guys on higher cubic capacities.

Now what will happen to the Tiger 660 prices, it'll definitely be 7.95 lakhs! We should buy some lottery tickets.

Happy riding,

Trident pricing is still in-line with UK pricing. Looks to be corrected for inflation or the original pricing was introductory (was cheaper than even UK prices originally).

£7395 = 7.47 lakhs today.

Tiger Sport 660 should come in at 8.5ish (£ 8450) in the best case scenario.

This is pure "make pe chauka" from the Triumph, considering even if with the price hike, still will look value for money . Seeing some atrocious price hikes in recent times with Toyota, Mahindra, Honda and now Triumph.

It's not surprising that Triumph hiked the prices this much. They were pricing the Trident very close to the 650cc kawasaki twins and they can't have been making much money with such a low price considering the Trident has far better specs than the Kawasaki twins.

That said now the Trident is quite close to the price of the Z900 and that's a better bike in many ways.

Re: 2021 Triumph Trident 660 unveiled. Edit: Now launched at 6.95 lakhs

Wow thats steep.

I recently bought a new bike for myself. Maybe its just me, however I didn't even consider the Trident, CB650R and the CBR650R. In my mind these bikes offered no substantial / in some cases none at all, gains compared to the Middleweight nakeds i.e. Z900 and the Street Triple R and this is with the old pricings of the CBR and the Trident. At these prices I wouldn't even step into their showroom.

I know all of this boils down to personal choice too, however manufacturers need to take long hard look at their own products as well.

Are there better products available in the same/ similar price range?

Does your product significantly differs itself from the rest of the offerings?

There's a reason the sales of Honda and Triumph are dwindling after the initial euphoria, cos you simply can't take the market for a ride for too long.
