Yesterday, I went on a drive to MM Hills with family. It was a good drive of 200Kms and was pretty cool and beautiful too. There a re alot of places enroute (Shivasamudra, Gaganchulli, Cauvery fishing camp, etc) and looks the hills enroute look really good for a trek.

I'm not sure if there was a meet at these places, if not may be we can do a small drive-lunch-trek meet? what say?

I had been to the MM hills ~ 5 years back. We stayed overnight in the temple/mutt rooms. We managed to find a localite/guide who agreed to take us into the forest. We realised we had gone too deep when we could hear the carnivores and ran back to the town. It was a blast.

Did you take the regular route via Kollegal followed by the SH to Mettur?

Yes @tckanth. I did mean the same route. How is the latest condition on the SH after Kollegal ?
I was told that its condition was pretty bad with many potholes.

Yes, The road after Kollegal is pretty bad, road widening and relaying is in progress and the whole road is completely dug up. Our Linea bottomed few times. After that the road is pretty good till you reach Hannur, there is a small stretch after Hannur with lot of potholes, might not be very bad for other cars but was pretty bad for our car (with 5 Adults and int infamous low GC of the car).
Apart form these the road is butter smooth for the most part.
We left early in the morning so managed to avoid the traffic on the Kanakpura road, but wile coming back we got stuck in the traffic from (Talaghattpura) NICE road.

Aditya, Mahesh and myself were planning to ride to Nandi hills. Its been ages since we went to nandi hills. If you guys plan any short drive then probably we will tag along...
