re: Chennai Team-BHP Meets: 2017

I stumbled upon this thread a few weeks back and wanted to come to one of the meetings. The current options seem to be good, but unfortunately I am driving back from B'luru on 8th and therefore can't make it... Will join the next meeting whenever it happens

Whats the plan for the drive please ? It shouldn't take more than 2 hours to get all the way to Alamparai (even including the distance from home ) for me assuming its the same for most others.

As of now, option 1 is gaining votes. Okay. So far I see only a car full of confirmations. So let's wait till tmw CoB.

Now coming to food arrangements, I was not finding a good restaurant by google search. May be we need to get it packed from Pondy or drive back to Pondy outskirts for Lunch.
If anybody has a reference, pls feel free to share the same.
We will plan and confirm this by Thursday.

Regards,
Maverick79.

Mate, attendence might be poor for Sunday. Most of us in the confirmed list including me, are dropping if its a sunday.
May be, we need some more notice in advance for a sunday meet. Lets try that next time.

Thanks & Regards,
Maverick79.

re: Chennai Team-BHP Meets: 2017

Greetings Maverick... and all Chennai-Bhpians,
I am eager to join this drive, and been following this thread.

As I am a newcomer to Chennai-meets, I would like to know, whether we have a practice of offering pooled-in seats or a hitch-hike in a fellow bhpian's car. Thanks.

Maverick, I doubt there is enough for a 12 hour plan.
Sholinganallur to Alamparai is a 1.5 to 2 hour drive, And even if you throw in a lunch at mahabalipuram, it's still a half day affair.

A half day plan for me works perfectly, but if people want a longer drive, how about gingee - Pondy - Alamparai. The NH 66 is a hoot to drive on (get your kicks ), and you can cover three major Forts in chennai - Gingee, Alamparai and Sadras.

I like this Tri-Fort plan. If we are starting from ECR then would it make sense to do Sadras - > Alamparai -> Gingee and probably disperse from there without needing to head back to the starting point ?

I agree. Could see few options here.

Option 1: ECR only: If the majority of members wants only a half day(a bit more) relaxed drive then lets go for Alamparai, in which case we can visit Alamparai and on the way back have lunch in Moonrakers, Mahabs.

Option 2: ECR only: Else we can club Alamparai,Pondy & Sadras. Have lunch and do some neccessary shopping in Pondy .

Option 3: NH 66 + ECR : If all are ok for a 3 fort visit we can go ahead with what greenhorn suggested. Route option which Sushil suggested looks fine to me.

Option 4: Yelgiri alone.

I am ok for any option. Anybody bringing family?

My suggestion would be, let us proceed as we planned and not make any changes. People who would have confirmed with the agreed plan might change their mind and new faces might join as well with new plan but then the question is, why last minute changes.
