Seems the group is a bit inactive due to the summer! Are there any good places to during the monsoons??

Does Chennai have "Monsoon" ?

Any meet has to be planned early in the morning. Even by 9, it gets quite hot.

Chennai is supposed to be served by the North-East Monsoon. This is typically between Sept/Oct through Dec.

Yes, there are many places around Chennai. Do I see any hands go up for a drive?

Somebody was mentioning this. We can do a drive to GRT Tiruttani I think, not too far, can do even just a breakfast drive and be back by 10 AM. It is about 85km one way and after the first 40 km, the roads are really good.

Those first 40 km are pure hell so if we go that far lets do the temple darshan (for those who want it) and all before coming back after an early lunch, stay a bit longer.

What do you say to going down the GST road instead - nice and smooth. Maybe Kanchipuram which is around 88 km.

I am good & game for a day trip anywhere around Chennai. I suppose the current list of people willing to go on a drive are

Hi - as some bangalore folks also wanted to participate in our drives, we propose to "meat" them halfway.

To be precise, in one of the several excellent Biryani restaurants in Ambur or Vaniyambadi, roughly equidistant between Chennai and Bangalore.

Details (and appropriate provision for vegetarian bhpians) will be ironed out but let's first set a date for the happy event.

Please fill out this poll with your tbhp username and available dates, I will correlate the data and update this thread once a suitable date is identified.

OK - the date is set for Sunday August 13 as 8 bhpians can make it, compared to 1..4 people on other weekends or holidays during the next few weeks.

I see 7 (unique) and not 8. There seems to be one person (Karthik Chandrasekhar) who has voted twice. We could take it as 8 if he has voted for another person in another car : )
