I haven't had a speeding ticket in 9 years and I'd like to keep it that way, so don't worry.

The way I plan it, any section that is main freeway or highway or urban area, we go no more than 5mph over the limit. On the backroads, choose your own comfortable speed. If the car behind you wants to go faster, just wave to them so they'll overtake you and then you pick your own speed. Leading car pulls over for everyone to catch up at every point where we change roads or direction.

Good to know this is still on. 21st weekend sounds good for me too....

Will give me plenty of time to arrange for a pitiful rental..

I am reassured to hear that . Since most people are comfortable on 21st can we please confirm the meeting place?

Yes, you can hop on along with me, or if you prefer someone from the NJ area.

I knew someone with a bike but unfortunately he's moved off to Chicago now. I've been thinking about getting a motorcycle license but haven't got down to it yet. You're welcome to join in though! What'd you ride?

Any update on route ? time to meet ? etc.

I have some commitments on 21st evening, so just wanted to know by what time we are expecting to come back.

yet....

Let's see what route Harbir has planned out for us.

I think if we leave early-ish on Saturday morning, we'll make it back by early evening.

@hondatoyotafan: It's a 5-6 hour drive down from there to New York. You're welcome to join in though! I have cousins in Herndon, VA - very close by to you.

Love driving along those exotic car showrooms around Vienna / Dulles.

What's Happening?

So where do we stand guys? Harbir did you get a chance to plan a route yet?

I might have to work that day so it is a little in the shadow for me right now, but I will try my best to make it

plan b

Let's see what Harbir has in mind. Like everyone else, he's probably swamped with work.

Plan B:
The Sprain -> Taconic Pkwy is a decent drive and shouldn't be clogged up on Saturday morning.

It's very much doable within a couple of hours and we should be back well before evening.

Take a look at the link here -> Taconic State Parkway - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

We drive along the Taconic, upto the Bear Mountain Parkway exit.
The Bear Mountain Pkwy is just a few miles long, so we go to the end, turn around and merge back onto the Taconic.

Depending on what time we reach the Bear Moutain Pkwy exit, we can decide whether to drive further up the Taconic, or not.

Lunch / snacks can be had on the way.

Let's decide a tentative time of 9am (hey, it's the weekend, 9am is early!) for those of us leaving from New York City.

Those coming from NJ (and CT or elsewhere), will meet us either in Manhattan - near the Empire State Bldg, or outside the city near White Plains.
I'll put up some common ground by tomorrow morning.

Please try and make it on time.

ps. An alternate US Route 6 up around CT seems to be a good driving route too - will be a good location for a longer drive next time around.

Please put up your confirmations here and let's exchange telephone numbers via PM.
