My friend's Scorpio has a new issue off late. Even when the fuel tank has half the fuel it can hold, the VMS kicks in announcing that the vehicle is running on reserve fuel.

Any pointers or remedies to this?

Hi, Seems to be an issue with the low fuel trigger message from the system, there is no DIY for this, it will have to be looked into by the A.S.S. Is the fuel gauge giving proper reading ?

Yes Sir.

Hmmm, I ve heard this used to be a known issue with the first version of the VMS. Has anyone else faced it??

Infractions: 0/3 (13)

my Scorpio finished 2 years on April 9th 2010. On March 1st 2010 I bought the 2 year extended warranty. The list of things covered in the extended warranty is exhaustive.
Complete peace of mind until April 8th 2012 for a price of Rs 13000/- I think it is well worth it indeed. (Just Rs 500 odd per month when you consider it.)
I would also, like Sam and Suman, suggest that you get the Extended Warranty for your Scorpio.

Fully agreed with you, even I went in for an extended warrenty, covering till Sep 2012. Complete peace of mind for self and an added value to the next owner as I plan to sell this car in the near future.

I have been fortunate enough to face absolutely no issues with the electronic gizmos, including the VMS, despite the host of mechanical issues which have plagued my Scorpio in the last 2 years.

Hi,

I have a good old Scorpio 2003 End, NON-CRDE done 75000 kms and I love it because it has been almost troublefree even after my trips to Leh etc.

My 3 year old son the brat that he is, inserted and dropped a full size unsharpened new pencil into the AC Vent next to the Windshield on the top. Now Whenever I brake, we can hear the pencil roll inside.

During my last service I asked the Bhasin Motors Service Advisor, and he told me there is no easy way to take it out. The only way they told me is to open the complete dashboard, and that would cost 1800 and a full day.

I tried to open the central Console and put my hand in but could not get the pencil out.

The pencil is in the top itself, lying in the AC Air Pipe connecting the Vents just below the windshield, and we can hear it roll once in a while.

Any ideas on how we could get it out.

I was thinking of removing the grill of one of the vents, so that the hand goes in, and then sticking it back with elfy or something.

Any ideas anybody ?

Water logging under carpet

Recently I have started to notice this water logging problem under the carpet on the driver side. Although it has been raining crazily in Delhi-NCR region, but this problem has never surfaced earlier. Mine is a 5 years old non-Crde model. Had there been any leakage somewhere, I would have noticed earlier.

Initially I thought that the AC drainage pipe may be clogged, hence the water. But off late, because of the cool weather I have stopped using AC very regularly ( not more than 5 minutes at one stretch). But the problem has not gone.

Any thoughts what could be the problem?

Can you see the pencil? You could probably try to fish it out with a long stick or hard piece of wire in that case; put a blob of (chewed) chewing gum on the tip of the wire, and the pencil should stick to it and come out.

With its ground clearance, generally you don't require any underbody protection other than the tough plastic engine guard that comes wth the truck.

Sudev, a senior member here got the underbody protection done for his Vitara. He too is NOIDA based and you can PM him for details.

Peculiar central local issue

Friends,

I have 101 issues with my Scorpio, and this one 102 is really pestering, even after 7 visits it was not fixed by A.S.S . I do not think they listen to the issue, though it is interesting and might be challenging.

Here it is:

Everything goes well with the central lock, till it rains with thunder and lightening. As soon as they come, My Scorpio panic alarm gets malfunctioning and starts sirening. This makes me timid, and I had to keep the door opened till 3-4 hours after raining. This becomes a shame when neighbors staring me and i look helpless. If I start the car and drive, I keep getting the message ' One of the door is opened" from voice assist - when all the doors are closed, including the rear and bonnet.

A.S.S, never fixed till date, I asked them to replace too. When they check it works fine, obviously, it works fine after few hours from raining. Its self healed.

I hate to bring the car to A.S.S again - as I am sure there is no solution with them. The car is in extended warranty, and the problem was reported by me from the second month of purchase.

Now I need your advice:

1. Should I go to any after market shop, replace a new central locking (Autocop)
2. Should I write to M&M, if yes, to whom, Will they listen to me?
3. What should I do with the poor service from A.S.S, My next service center is 150 kms away. Should I take there? It will take 2 days to fix it anyhow. (The car was already with the A.S.S for many days at various time)
4. Above all, What could be the problem?

I would like to get your valuable feedback.

On a separate note: Since last week, my read red lamps stops only after 30 seconds after central locking, this was not there before I send the care to A.S.S last week for the same lock issue. When I called and asked, they say its a feature.

Ask the A.S.S. to replace your door switches. One (or more) of the door switches has gathered muck and moisture, and is shorting out in high-humidity conditions.

Fantastic. Thanks for the reply. I am sure A.S.S is that knowledgeable to identify the issue. I will speak to them and ask them to check the switches. One last try with them.

Hi agbenny, I can empthise with you since I have also had multitude of issues with my Scorpio, but as a customer who had spent almost a Mill rupees you should stand up for your rights, something which I have done, and today I can say that Yes , the company listens if you are persistant enough. Please write to Mahindra Customer Care(customercare@mahindra.com) they normally respond within 24 hrs with a call coming from your dealer. If that does not help I can PM you the mail ID's of some people who call the shots in M&M.

Thanks Guys.
I wrote to the customer care too, and keep you posted about the progress - if there is really any. m_upreti, Thanks for sharing the detail. If Email doesn't help I will PM you for further details.

Problem of the Day: I found Cruise control stopped working, all switches became dead, I am not sure when did it stop working, since I didn't get a chance to use after July. I drove the car on the 4 lane for 200 kms today, with no use of Cruise control. :-(
