Had a small overheating problem in my Scorpio (pre-CRDE). Turned out to be a faulty diode (I couldn't go to the a.s.c myself, so I don't have details) which was replaced. Running fine now, with the temp needle slightly below the halfway mark as it is supposed to be.
Not sure how helpful this post will be, but in case someone faces an overheating problem, he can always ask the a.s.c people to check the "diode"... mechanics all over speak the same language

LOL, Razor, please share some more info; like the 'cost' involved!
Can't for the life of me figure where a 'diode' might come into the picture!

1. For the last few days I am feeling that the Car is literally dragging itself and begging for more power. Usually in 5th gear between 90-100 KMPH the tech is showing 2300-2500 RPM, earlier it used to be under 2000.
In the 4th if I near 80 it climbs up to 3000 rpm.

No change, I am told it is normal.
hi upreti, my scorpio tach shows 2000 rpm at 90 kmph in 5th gear.

Then surely the clutch in Upreti's car is slipping!
Is M&M waiting to let the problem become big and then claim that clutch plate 'normal' wear & tear is not covered under warranty?!!

LOL Just curious in the Scorpios is this "Diode" a thermocouple or a thermistor ? I guess more likely to be a thermocouple if it is for engine temperature measurement.

Like I said, I didn't get to talk to the mechanic first hand, but it's most probably got to do with the thermostat that switches on the radiator fan.
Cost was marginal... couple of hundred bucks with labour.

But the radiator fan in the Scorpio is belt driven from the engine.
So most likely, it was the thermostatic valve or something.

Bang on point Raj what I was trying to explain to A.S.S. my tech shows 2100 at 75 and goes up to 3000 at 100. I will do another round of monitoring over a couple of days and update.

have you tried any other A.S.S, like global gallarie in thane. yes, its a bit far from your place but then if they can solve your problem, well and good... isnt it?

I think you should get an independant opinion for your satisfaction...

I am convinced this is the pressure plate clutch assembly and most definately a loss in hydraulic pressure due to weakened rubber kits in the clutch master / slave cylinders. If the hydraulic systems was leaking you would loose precious brake fluid...which I figure you are not, else you'd be screaming!!!

Surely the brake system and the clutch system do not share the same hydraulic circuit!

Anup, I certainly believe they do not, but I have seen the fluid resevoirs in some vehicles (can't confirm the Scorp) is a single unit...Must be seperated within.

It would be disaster to share a common pressure system, but is it possible they share the same resevoir? Hence, a fluid loss in one of the systems would result in a total loss of fluid for both? Not sure of this...just asking!

I should take another look before sounding stupid!!!

it has been average. whenever, i have visited the service centre, they have been very courteous & patient with me.

as far as solving issues are concerned, i had this issue of a sound coming from the AC's expansion valve. it took me three visits to the A.S.S to solve that issue. now another irritant is the slight squeaking of the driver's door on bad roads. they have "tightened" the door twice taking me two visits. but every time, just 50 kms later, the sound re-surfaces.
so its not a place i would say is the best in town, but definetely worth a try. sometimes, if upreti is lucky, global can do things which G# couldnt... that is, providing him a permanent solution!

I figure the mech who actually works on the car is the most important. So, if you get a chap who knows the car (which frankly they all should) you get the job done first time.
