however I have hit a dead end. Apparently haven't been able to source a spare headrest from the dealers. |
I called the chap you put me thru and went there too. No luck and no-one seems to have one like the new face lifted scorp' types head rest.I lost interest and finally decided to give up. Installed new seat covers and left it at that for now.
However from the safety perspective the center passenger has every chance of spraining/breaking his/her neck in situations of panic breaking or a collision.
Cant you add a fixed head-rest for the center ?
If the rear seat has a frame that you can access easily, then make an arrangement to mount the H/r albeit in a fixed way from the rear of the seat. (but not adjustable vertically).
(For ref, the Sumo's rear seat is based on a metal /pipe based frame that can be felt easily from the rear side of the seat's back-rest.)
But for this, you may need to select a head-rest that is not exactly identical to the ones available in the market, or can design one (make a metal frame & pad it to shape). You will also need to cut the original seat fabric.

You sure can fix one
condor. Checked one personally and was convinced that it was doable, it was only then I decided to put one there. The rear seat frame can accommodate this coz there is enuf width to plonk one in there.

Not the case with the Scorp'.

If you don't put the exact similar one it might look a little outta place. The rear head rests are nicely designed. From what I could gather its easy to do a non-retractable setup wherein the headrest stay's in one position.Makes for a good DIY, but that's if I only I could source one :Frustrati .
Hi, I was looking at installing the Blue Vision headlamps for My Vlx Sep 2008 model. I checked up with M&M and I have been told that the entire assembly will have to be changed since these bulbs emit more heat. They have quoted about 7500 K for the 2 head lights and 1500 for the fitting etc.
The exterior of the lights will be as per the original design since the new model has a different design bonnet and grill, to fit the new design lights they will have to change the Bonnet, Grill & front guard.
Any guidence on whether to go for it / cheaper options / ideas on white vision regular bulbs etc.

Do M&M manufacture such headlamps (IMO no they don't)? May be the service centre is providing you some outsourced ones. In any case, you must check the built and quality of the headlamp.
Most importantly, there are several non-compliant versions of blue bulbs flooding the market. They cause extreme glare and blinds the driver in opposite lane and the passerby. So, only go for the compliant versions be it M&M or elsewhere.
I assume your headlamps are working fine and you want an upgrade. So you better avoid cheap versions. There are white vision xenon bulbs available in plenty. Xenon lamps provide better light and have a long life.
Please check the dealer and other fellow BHPians for the price.
Dont forget to tell us what you finally went for and your search process and review. :D

i think you got confused. upreti is talking about the "blue vision" headlights which come standard with the scorpio refresh VLX.
they are neither blue nor white & is definitely not bright like the aftermarket ones.
I have a very quick query to the pre-refresh vehicle owners with regards to the dimensions of the scorpio. I can see the post-refresh (mighty muscular) is 4430mm in length, I would want to know how this compares to the old one since some modifications were done to the front/rear bumpers in the new version. The difference though might be very minor but would still be interested to compare, can someone who own a pre-refresh help me with this query?
the pre-refresh scorpio's length is 4495 mm compared to 4430 mm of the refresh scorpios.
i think the difference is because of the protruding step in the rear of the older 7 seater scorpios. the new ones have a integrated step in the rear bumper. also, the new rear bumper is joined with the body whereas the older bumper had a small gap between the bumper & the body.

The shortened Refresh without the step is OK, but the painted bumper ultimately develops many scratches due to ingress and egress of occupants, especially children who dance before entering in.

These guys are taking you for a ride.
You can just get Bulbs replaced,to something by Phillips\Osram or Even HID's.
@Scorpio owners
Mine has done just 785Kms in 3 weeks.
and last night i was having trouble engaging reverse gear,it was giving that grinding sound.
sometimes it does sometimes it doesnot.
Even shift to first gear is pretty notchy at times.
This is certainly not normal i guess.

before shifting to reverse, shift to neutral, release the clutch, then depress the clutch & then shift to reverse gear.
else, quickly shift to first & then reverse.
^^ Akshay,
If this is happening mostly when taking from a parked position, then, to add to Raj's "shift to first & then reverse", move the vehicle a couple of inches when in first; a slight roll will do.
Not sure why this happens, but this is one sure way to tackle it. Apart from the Scoprio's that I get my hands on, I have noticed this rampant in Maruti's (Alto, Swift D, 800 & Estilo)!!!

Is that how it needs to be done on all Mhawks?
I'd suggest you have this checked out at the service station Akshay as it doesn't sound normal to me.

Noticing this on a prev gen and a recent MHawk.
Yeah, it is not normal, but I would suggest that one does not raise too much of an issue with the MASS for this. This is something that has a work around and which is not destructive. Better live with it than let the grease monkeys fiddle around. Just my opinion.
