He is still not coming clean , It can not be electrical switch IMHO. It was something mechanical which resulted in brake line leakage.

Thanks,

Does not look normal on modern SUV , Wheel cap should not heat up in just 22 KM so still I feel all is not well with your braking system.

Based on this detail my guess is that your brake pads may be rubbing causing hubs to heat , Earlier there might be some leakage in your braking system and this overheating resulted in complete failure.

Please compare it with another Scorpio or talk to some other scorp owner and take action soon.

Others may comment on this hypothesis.

Hey there fellow Scorp masters,

It's realy dumb but I have to ask this questions. Yesterday when I unlocked my car (with remote) it gave me 3-4 long beeps instead of the regular 2 short beeps. Once I got into the car there was a lock shaped red icon blinking in the dash. I know that this indicates some issue with the security system. Does anyone know why this happens? It's happened a couple of times earlier as well. Both times, my car was parked outside my office.

I would also like to ask if anyone knows any good accesories shop in Mumbai? I need to get a nice bull guard and a couple of fog lamps.

Cheers

What was the blinking pattern of your icon?
The codes for these beeps are mentioned in the owner's manual for the security system but as far as I remember, they beep for 4 times continuously when it has foiled an attempt to tamper.
I may not be correct but it is my hunch. Your manual would explain these fully.

That is correct. Four chirrups mean there has been tampering in your absence!

who is tampering with your vehicle wolfheart? pesky kids in your society???

also, just FYI, 4 beeps while locking (instead of the regular 2) means that one of the doors is not closed properly.

Hey guys thanks for all your replies.

The car is parked on the street outside my office building. There could be a thousand losers out there trying to tamper with my car.

In the Safari 3.0L, the lock shaped red icon blinking in the dash indicates that the engine immobiliser has been activated. It happens if it detects that the doors have been opened but the key has not been inserted in the ignition within a certain number of seconds. In case someone opens a door forcibly, the alarm (in its case the Horn) goes off as well apart from the immobiliser getting activated.

It could be the same in your vehicle, particularly if the doors had not locked earlier (as pointed out by Raj) or if someone tried opening a door.

Whoah! So does it mean that someone got into my car but couldnt crank the engine so just quietly shut it and left?

My car gets washed everyday as well. Sometimes I hand my keys to the car washer so that he can clean the interiors as well.

is it possible that he forgort to shut the car properly?

VLX Third gear Vibration Ceased

Greetings Bhp-ians,

I am happy to inform you all that the Third gear vibration in my Scorpio has ceased finally after the installation of the kit provided by Mahindra and Installed by A.S.S. ( CAI Industries, Coimbatore ).

It took about Two and Half days for the A.S.S. to return me the vehicle after i had left it to install the kit and do my 50,000 km service. Finally, i got it today and I am very happy to see the vibration not existing.

and this is how it happened, I had to written to the customer care about 3 weeks ago about the vibrations i had on the 3rd gear. I had the Customer Care people calling me about 3-4 times asking me about the service centers where i service my vehicle. Another couple of days later , i had the customer service manager of the A.S.S. calling me to tell me that , this problem has been talked to Mahindra and they have got a kit to install to get that problem solved. So, Finally i had left the car for service which was also ready for the scheduled 50k maintenance and i got the car with the problem not existing.

Thank you Mahindra ! You have done a great job !

Hi Capt.

3960 for a paid service sounds like a lot. Can you give us a break up?

That is a distinct possibility & a dangerous one - you'll end up losing stuff that's inside the car if he's that careless. Best not to give him the keys unless you're present.

@shekharlele : There was no breakup on the bill and i see that A.S.S. here in coimbatore and in chennai seems to have a preset value for the scheduled services.

I have not taken the car to any other service centers , so i am not sure about it.

anyway, It stated " 50,000 Km service : INR 3960.00 "

I think these dealerships are milking money. I think we should insist on doing only what the manual calls for and get a breakdown of the labor expenses.

Yes, I feel that it's essential to get a break up of the labour charges. I once discovered that a simple replacement of fog lamps was billed as Rs. 450/- by the A.S.S., just for the labour !
