This is just one reason why I have often said modifying and fiddling with cars in India is not always a good idea
How would just adding a stock replacement filter to a car be a modification that requires skill?

From what i understand it's just a simple matter of opening the clamps, removing your old filter and placing the stock K&N there.
That's why i had said Stock replacement K&N filter is a safe and easy option.

Also i don't think it can degrade the performace/FE - so even if you don't gain much, you won't loose anything. It should surely do a better job than the filters auto companies put in their cars as stock.

Cost Cost Cost, we all know that tubeless tyres are far better than the tube type, but still all Manufactures will deliver cars with tube type tyres fitted. They are more concerned about their profit margins....

Manufacturers have to meet their bottom line profitability, that is what i feel being one of the major reasons why a product line a K&N filter is not factory fitted. Besides how many service advisors or workshop managers are even aware of performance enhancement parts. They have a manual and follow it.

Hey,

A stock replacement wil not give you any noticeable power gains if you have a stock car. It will however make a marginal diff at high revs. No retuning required.

hey viper
you sure about that ?? i thought it improves the cars low end torque and if it barely makes a difference, whats the point of putting it ?? might as well use the stock filter.

Hi,

It does but if you want to see a noticeable difference I would recomend the conical filter if you are looking at performance fitted with a proper intake pipe.

I got the stock replacement filter abt 2weeks ago and there is a very noticeable difference in the high end performance. The car feels more comfortable and is less noisy at revs abt 3k(Skoda)
