Re: VCDS (Vag-Com Diagnostic System) for VW & Skoda - Discussion Thread

Found a VCDS cable on Amazon which looks like the clone of RossTech similar to what AliExpress sellers are offering. I’ve ordered one, which can be returnable if it doesn’t work. I’ll let you guys know if it works. The delivery time is 15-20 days.

I don't think this one will work for newer MQB cars. It will only work with pre 2019 cars. Anyway it's returnable so try and check.

Re: VCDS (Vag-Com Diagnostic System) for VW & Skoda - Discussion Thread

Anyone from Bangalore having the VCDS cable, I could use some help with few tweaks. I own a Kushaq Ambition 1.0 MT. The waiting time from AliExpress is pretty long and buying the original Ross-Tech cable seems expensive for one time tweaks.

If you are in South Bangalore and can meet me in short notice I will lend the cable and do the tweaks. But I’m on the move most of the time and cant assure you a timeslot in advance

Re: VCDS (Vag-Com Diagnostic System) for VW & Skoda - Discussion Thread

I recently got an used 2022 VW Virtus GT and promptly ordered a VCDS Hex-V2 from Ross-Tech. It was delivered today. So far, I have only installed the SW & taken a full factory control channel maps, including measuring values & adaptations, just to have a clean copy as a backup.

Reading up on possible adaptaions (I refuse to call it coding. It isn't). The one thing I would really like to do is to set the auto start/stop funtionality to OFF by default. If that isn't possible, then I would like to at least make the car remember the previous position, when it was turned off.

Has anyone here done this? Would appreciate any help in this regard. Thanks in advance.

I haven't tried this yet myself. I had this saved from a ibiza mk6 forum. You can't disable the auto start/stop per say but can alter the parameters such that it won't stop the engine. Kindly do let me know if it works.

Disable Start / Stop
1. Control Unit 19 (Gateway)
2. Adaptation
3. Start / stop start voltage limit: change the value to "12V" [Standard: "7.6V"]

Thank you for the response. I am aware of this, but it is a work around. Essentially, what we are doing here is defeating the system, which is not what I want to do. This would mean the system will never kick-in, even if I feel it could be useful in a given scenario and want to turn it on.

At present, the sytem is activated by default, but allows me to press a button & disable it, till such time the button is pressed again or the engine is cranked again. I want the system to be disabled by default, but still allowing me to press that button & activate it, if I want to use it.

One might wonder why I cannot simply press that button every time I crank the car. A very valid question, with a very simple answer - I love challenges and problem solving. I will try first, before giving up. If I succeed, will update here.

See if this sparks something in your venture. Kindly do let me now if you find a way to have it turned off by default.

Your review of this one would be helpful . Could be a decent replacement for the ones from AliExpress.

Hi, I'd like to know your buying experience from Ross-Tech. Was it a purchase from India or USA ?

This won't work and even clone cable does not come this cheap. Cancel your order, save your time and seller's money.

You need a VCDS Hex V2 cable which isn't available on random places.

Re: VCDS (Vag-Com Diagnostic System) for VW & Skoda - Discussion Thread

The 2018 VW cars power steering module doesnt support (VCDS no options listed) any listed adaptations like steering assistance level comfort, dynamic etc. Can anyone confirm if this can be achieved by long coding and help out with it if possible. Similar story with the HVAC module. The Cold Tuning more air option or even a listed adaptation is not available in VCDS. if this is possibly due to missing documentation and can be achieved via Long coding, it'd be really helpful. I have written to Ross Tech as well, but if anyone on the forum has done it, it'd be real helpful.

Could you please let me know if you've had a chance to explore a solution for this error? I've noticed that many others have successfully enabled this option on 8-inch screens, so I don't believe it's a requirement specific to the workshop code. However, I'm encountering the same 'out of range' error, even though the adaptation works perfectly on a 10-inch infotainment screen.

Sadly, I haven't been able to get it working. I did try multiple versions of VCDS as well, but I receive the same error. I guess the only other possibility is to use OBDEleven and give it a go.
