Re: Review: Liqui Moly Cera Tec Friction Modifier in my Skoda Laura

I had got Liqui Moly Ceratec from Amazon and used it along with oil change in my SX4. I have driven more than 1000 kms now.

Observations :

1. There is difference for sure. Engine is silent. My car has run more than 1.2 lakhs km.

2. Mild improvement in performance at top end. The engine noise is also lesser at high RPM.

3. I am little worried about something. There is white smoke from the exhaust whenever I start the car. Oil level is normal. The white smoke was not there before adding Ceratec. I had used Liqui Moly engine flush, drained the old oil and added Ceratec with Motul X-Cess 5W40.

The white smoke is not due to the Ceratec, it is due to the engine flush.

Ideally you should have avoided using the flush since your engine has 1.2 lakh kms. Flush will actually cause loss in compression if your engine is old.

BEfore the flush there would be tiny imperfections in the cylinder that would have been sealed by the gunk and carbon. The carbon would have actually helped in sealing. By flushing, you have removed the carbon that was helping the seal. Hence the white smoke and most likely loss in compression.

For older engines instead of flushing, it is preferred to do quick oil changes. within 500kms. Change oil to cheap oil then run for 500kms. After that put ceratec and better oil. Safer bet for older cars.

Yes, you are right.

I tried engine flush in my 40k kms run S-Cross 1.6 yesterday. There is smoke now, but much lesser than SX4. I hope this would be fine after running few thousand kms and carbon builds up again.

Keep an eye on the oil level. Bluish white exhaust smoke generally means oil being burnt.

Just wanted to double check whether CeraTec can be used with the Mineral Engine Oil. Planning to use it on my Palio MJD which has done 1 Lakh KM.

Yes, you can certainly use it with Mineral Oil.

Go like this: Flush - Drain - New Oil (1 Ltr) - Ceratec - Top up to the capacity.

Also, let the engine idle for 10 minutes before you drive after the change.

Now this is where the dilemma is. Many have recommended to avoid engine flush for 1 lakh plus km engines since there will be some imperfections and this may result in white smoke after flush. My mechanic too says that since i have religiously changed oil every 7.5K km, don't go for engine flush.

If you're sceptical, you may easily skip the flushing part.

The engine oil i mentioned is mineral. so you can use it. btw 1.3 MJD uses synthetic oil also.

Can I buy Ceratec from Amazon, (since of late they are selling fake products?) This is for my Nexon D. It's selling for 2,200. Or is there a trusted distributor for Bangalore (physical store)?. I would prefer that please.

Re: Review: Liqui Moly Cera Tec Friction Modifier in my Skoda Laura

Hey Guys, I have 2012 Scorpio run. 1,27,000 kms. I am planning to use ceratec in the next oil change. Planning for shell 5w-40 and created. Scorpio takes 7 liters of engine oil, so should I use 300 ml + 100ml of ceratec, or is just 1 bottle enough?.

During the last engine oil change, I used a flush, since then there is harshness and noise, so I am thinking of flushing again and then put ceratec.
What do you feel?
