Re: GReddy Informeter

Legislation is the main criteria which determines the OBD. Domestic Scorpios and all other CRDe are OBD I.

Going by your quote, is it fair to speculate that the export Thar's/Scorpios may be having OBD II? If Yes, would the ECU's also be different. The question is just out of curiosity. Am not asking for those here. I am happy with Thar the way it is except for A/C.

Re: GReddy Informeter

Blackraven, all export vehicles do not have OBD II. AFAIK, only 1 vehicle has OBD II and that is specifically developed for a particular market. Hope you got the drift.

I guess that explains why most truck/drivers in the US use OBD scanners.

Spike, other than scanning and clearing error codes, can the OBD2 port be used for anything else?. Like slightly tuning the ECM?. Of course, with proper equipment.

Re: GReddy Informeter

^^ Yes, why not? OBD is the link between ECU and Engine, so IMHO must be doable with proper equipment.

re: OBD (On-board diagnostics) for Indian Cars

Hi, Where in the Chevy Optra Diesel is the OBD II port located?

Also, can these china knockoffs cause damage to the ECU or any other component of the car?

Also, I have seen some advts. from Chinese manufacturers for the exact model which Kim has purchased. If we can get together and purchase in bulk, we could get a good deal (better quality same price), as well as get some kind of warranty / returns policy. What say?

re: OBD (On-board diagnostics) for Indian Cars

Got the ELM327 bluetooth adapter + Torque on Android working with Getz Prime 1.1. The OBD 2 port is located vertically above the accelerator pedal facing downwards. I was able to see lots of sensors marked as available in Torque.
The only small irritation is that the indicator LEDs on the adaptor are hidden from view and are difficult to see.
I got the $23 adapter from Cool Gadgets at the Right Price - Worldwide Free Shipping - DealExtreme.
Will update with details after I play with it a little more.

^^ which car are you talking of?

I see your car is 2008 Swift VXi ( in your garage). If correct, most probably nothing will work :( .

Hi Archat,

I got my Bluetooth scanner today. But I don't seem to get it to work :(
I put it in the obd port. There are 5 lights on the device. The first one goes red as soon as I connect it.

Then I opened the torque application on my Android device. Searched for the scanner, got something as CHX. Did a connect and pair by using 6789 as the key. The pairing worked. But I can't seem to connect to it. It just shows 'paired but not connected in my device list'.

When I open torque application, it shows that the scanner is not connected. Any idea on what the problem might be ? Or am I missing something here ?
