Thanks for confirming, Wildon. Is there any other information that can be decoded from the same? Also, is it enough to check under the hood (where it is "etched" into the metal) or does it need to be tallied/cross checked with any other documentation?

If you are looking for Linea or Punto here it is

Linea and Punto having the VIN characters of normal 17 digit + Additional 3 letters which represents the month/year of manufacturing.

The first 3 letter of the 17 digit VIN represent the Region/Country/Manufacturer.

MCA = Fiat India

The next 6 letters/digits represents the engine code in which you can find out whether its a petorl/diesel and as well as the variants like Active/Emotion/Dynamic/Dynamic Pk/Emotion/Emotion Pk etc.

The digit i.e the 10 digit always 0 and this is called as Check digit.

11th to 17 th digit represents the Chassis Number/ Product Serial.

After this there are additional 3 letters which represent the month/year.

for LINEA

MCAXXXXXXX

1101160 = 1.4 16V E3 ACTIVE
1102160 = 1.4 16V E3 DYNAMIC
1103160 = 1.4 16V E3 EMOTION
1107160 = 1.4 16V E3 EMOTION PACK

1101170 = 1.3 MJTD 16V 90CV/66KW E3 ACTIVE
1102170 = 1.3 MJTD 16V 90CV/66KW E3 DYNAMIC
1103170 = 1.3 MJTD 16V 90CV/66KW E3 EMOTION
110D170 = 1.3 MJTD 16V 90CV/66KW E3 DYNAMICE PACK
1107170 = 1.3 MJTD 16V 90CV/66KW E3 EMOTION PACK

For PUNTO

11815B0 = 1.2 8V E3 65CV/48KW ACTIVE
11825C0 = 1.4 16V E3 95CV/70KW DYNAMIC
11835C0 = 1.4 16V E3 95CV/70KW EMOTION
1185AC0 = 1.4 16V E3 95CV/70KW EMOTION PACK

1181550 = 1.3 16V E3 75CV/55KW ACTIVE
1182550 = 1.3 16V E3 75CV/55KW DYNAMIC
1183550 = 1.3 16V E3 75CV/55KW EMOTION
118A550= 1.3 16V E3 75CV/55KW EMOTION PACK

Here is the decoded info of the additional 3 digits(ie.18-20) of Linea/Punto for 2009 manufactured vehicles.

AQZ = Jan '09
BQZ = Feb '09
CQZ = March '09
DPZ = April '09
EPZ = May '09
FPZ = June '09
GPZ = July '09
HPZ = August '09
JPZ = September '09
KPZ = October '09
LPZ = November '09
MPZ = December '09

In 2010 Fiat used the additional 3 digits as starting from

ANZ = January 2010.

MAK = HONDA SIEL CARS INDIA LTD (HSCI)
GM2 = SOHC 16 Valve i-VTEC
Displacement : 1.496 cc
6 = 4Door Sedan , Automatic Transmission
3 = Grade
A = January
A = 2010
N = Noida Plant
002156 = Serial Number

Wheel mfr info and specs also tied to the VIN but for that you need to get the Original Manufacturers VIN decoder and i don't have that.
