Will be going to the workshop today and was wondering.
The car has run close to 24K kms. The brake pads soaked in water for > 72hrs. Should I change the brake pads? How much do they cost?

The service engineer said, no need. I said I want the brakes to be good, allowing me to come safely to a stop from say 140 . He still said, no need.

I'm still wondering ... any inputs?

rear break pads better to change, front liners will survive. also bleed the complete brake circuit and clean all the cylinders and replace the rubber cylinder kits (get repair kit as it is termed)

Dude,
one simple thing. Have the car pushed out. Then let it drain for a few hours..make sure it doesnt remain submerged for long otherwise the wiring could start shorting. Invest a bit of money and get all fluids drained and refilled. Also check the boots, relubricate the moving parts in the axle and change the gear oil. Get a good interior clean up and your car should be good as new. I suggest u spare no expense because if the job is not done properly the tell tale signs could crop up in a few years when u goto sell it and people wont offer you a good price. Also replace/clean the headlamp reflectors..that is the first give away sign that the car has gone under water.
Check the tail lights as well. Remember to get it done 100%..i repeat this coz my friends C200 is still undergoing problems after 26/07/2005 in Mumbai!

Nopes. Not until another week at least.

As of now the climate control is the only major issue. AC is working fine, however on starting the engine the CC switches on automatically and none of the CC buttons are working. Today the service engineer said he's still not sure whether the root cause for this is the ECM or the CC circuitry. Says, he is unable to confirm since he does not have a spare ECM or a spare CC module. These 2 parts have been ordered for and will arrive early next week. Then after testing, he will change whichever has a problem. He's confident that insurance will cover the expense. ECM costs around 23-25K, CC costs around 14K.

Other than this, as @sudarshan has mentioned, the headlights do look a bit hazy. I might get them replaced with EuroII lights soon after she is back on her feet .. er wheels.

Brakes, oil changes, filter changes etc is planned for Monday.

First test drive is planned for Wednesday, latest Thursday. If all goes ok, cosmetic stuff will be taken care of in another couple of days.

I am not sure but what is this red colored fluid kind of thing that seems to have dried in several places in the engine bay? If they dropped brake fluid accidentaly on the metal parts they may cause corrosion. So be sure to check for that.

Brief update. Water had seeped into:

# Gear box (Gear oil needs to be replaced. Would anyway have done it)

# Clutch assembly (Clutch pressure plate etc to be replaced - was speaking to @shuvd earlier today that I'm not too happy with the clutch. So there goes, it's going to be changed anyway)

# Cat-con seems fine

No clear idea yet about how much insurance cover I'll get.
