Yesterday, gave the Octy a shampoo wash and then gave it a once over with Autoglym Resin Polish. It came out amazing. Would have loved to have done a rub down but too much dust and sunday afternoon is the only time when traffic is less hence no dust.

Guy who washes the car gets rather frustrated as I do a better job was than he does.

Due to stupid delhi traffic, there are some scratches (minor) on both front and rear bumpers of my 7 month old white coloured swift.

I want to get these removed. What's the best way? Where can I get it done in Delhi/NCR?

My two cents on teflon and car exterior detailing

Teflon Coating really?: Now lot of car and bike dealers claim to provide teflon coating, they will generally use a solution whose brand they dont even disclose. So its upto you to beleive whatever wax/polish they use and claim it to be teflon coating.

From my research on the net I found out that teflon coating can only be done during the car manufacturing process. i.e. just like you get a frying pan coated with teflon you need to incorporate the teflon on the paint during the manufacturing process to make it really effective and permanent.

Advantages of the claimed teflon by dealers: Gives you an excellent shine, slightly better than car wax. i.e. its good to use on an old car whose paint has become very dull. This claimed teflon coating also removes a lot of surface scratches and blemishes on the vehicle.

There are however car waxes in the market expecially from dupont which have teflon particles in the wax, now these products do give you shine and help remove surface scratches but again or not permanent. Once you use shampoo to clean your car it also removes part of the wax you applied. so in other words its not worth paying 7000 rs to get you Swift or any other car teflon coated from your dealer.

What I use: After having tried teflon experiements on my two-wheeler earlier I was not willing to spend 7k for teflon coating on my Swift, so I did some extensive reserach on the net and I shortlisted and have been using the following car care products since the last three months.

Washing: Sonax Car Shampoo
Waxing: Turtle Wax Super Hard Shell Wax
Removing surface scratches: Turtle Wax Rubbing Compound

The Sonax car shampoo and turtle wax are pretty good and I am really happy with the results. The wax makes the car really smooth and produces a nice deep shine.

The rubbing compound has given me ok results, it helped remove a few scratch marks that were on the surface only. However I tried it on my two wheeler whose paint was dull but that did not make any difference on the paint unlike what the product claims. (If used correctly, rubbing compounds are supposed to remove a layer of coat and bring back the factory look of the vehicle)

Turtle wax products were sourced from Sachin's autoshop and Sonax products are available at Shell petrol bunks.

Official Distributor of turtle wax in bangalore:
Swetadri Associates

Once Super Hard Shell is over I will migrate to Platinum range from turtle wax.

Good detailing guys

Be philosophical and learn to live with these!
These are going to re-appear in no time at all!

Totally different from teflon coating, they remove oxidation and then glaze and finally waxing and polishing the outer surface. They also do the glass cleaning etc. but no permanent layer on the car exteriors like teflon.

They offer 2 free services too within 1 year.
