He advised me to put
Intex system d which cleans injector and prolongs life
Told me to put one bottle or two every 10k km
I have put him on hold

Should i go for it
2 bottles cost 1200
He told me its to be put in 1/2 tank so will give me bottle and i should put it when tank is 1/2

Is it advisable

I use normal diesel my car runs out of mumbai 2-3 timex a year and rest local
Running is only 30k in 4 years
System D does not do any harm, and cleans the fuel system. Gains by using it, are subjective.

Recommended use is 1ml for every litre of diesel. the cap has a 10ml filler neck. Do not put the whole bottle in one go.

This is available at some BPCL outlets also, costs around 250/bottle.

I'm using it with every fill, and it helps keep an idling problem i face in check.

Thanks srini
Do u recommend it only if problems are there or as a safety
Also the tass is saying to buy 2 bottles and keep till next service and each bottle cost around 600
I think its system d extra and they say they wont add it only give bottle which i have to fill when tank is 1/2 full or i can give it to the pump guy

He said that over time injectors get debris and its advisable to use this as injector cleaning is expensive and in tass they simply replace it which cost around 8k

So my query was for this reason should i try this
I am not concerned with pickup as my car has no issues but injector if its life is going to get increased i may opt for it
The issue is TATA. Website says not recommended for DICOR. Eng and on other hand promotes it saying its for sumo safari etc

Your inputs

System D is useful in certain scanarios if you are finding hesitation / stutter at 1500/1800 RPM System D fixes it.

I use system D periodically 2 Tank full .. Like 2 Tank fulls with system D every six months or so to keep injectors clean.
Hello amit
Thanks , as quoted for srini the tass guy advises system d extra which is 600 bucks per bottle and advised to take 2 bottles which they wont add but i need to add every 7-10k kms
So how to go abt it
Should i buy 1-2 bottles
I am willing to add this if it increases life span of injectors

If its not broken, dont fix anything... goes the saying.

So. Since your car does not seem to be exhibiting any trouble, you dont need to add any additive to fuel.

The Service Centers try to push you to buy such additives to meet their sales quota.

As far as injector cleaning and Fuel pump repair goes, TASS now provides the cleaning / refurbishing service, which earlier they used to deny. I've got it done about a month back from Concorde Motors in Bangalore. So if your TASS tells you injectors will only be replaced, then dont listen to them.

Hey Srini, ,

Which Concorde you got injectors cleaned and how much was the expenditure? What kind of problems you were facing when you were advised to go for injector clean-up.

Thanks

Concorde motors Kudlu gate. Costed me about 5k. Reason was knocking sound and idling problem ( rpm drops to 600 ) and it feels like the engine is having a hiccup!

I am thinking of getting the middle row A/c fitted in the safari. Can anybody recommend a good shop in Delhi/NCR for this?

re: The Tata Safari 2.2L Technical / Problems Thread

Took my Safari today for the 60K Service to Concorde Motors Pune. Yes, I was thinking I could be doing that when I completed 2 years but guess it had to be 3 months early

I had gotten used to the set up at Rama Motors okhla and was totally spell bound that this is also how a Tata Service centre can be.

Knowledgeable & helpful service advisers which I thought I would never see.
The Safari was taken for a Test Drive for the first time by any service adviser and he pointed out a few issues which i had missed, the major one being that the A.C vents are not throwing Air at full force, It had been the same since I took delivery. Asked him how would it be fixed, he says the Dashboard might need to be opened. I flatly refused, don't want a new rattling now.

The other major issue I had was the Water seeping inside from the windshield that the guys at Rama motors were unable to fix. Had some talks with them pertaining to it being covered under warranty and finally they have agreed.

So the total Service Cost for me this Time is 7200/.
They are doing just what the manual says, no decarbonazation or engine flushing circus that had cost me a bomb last time I went for the 30K service.

I would recommend this Service Centre to all those in Pune.

Don't know about Delhi but got it done in Bangalore from an AC Mechanic in Vasanthnagar.

The only issue I am facing is that the AC unit has feather touch electronic controls rather then mechanical ones in OEM unit. Suppose if I switch off ignition on traffic signal and then crank engine again the unit gets reset.
Probably it is because it is being powerd by ACC/ Ignition.

Any possible solution for this ? Can we connect the middle AC to front AC blower powersupply ?

The elegant solution would be getting a separately fused line from the battery. Isn't there a control line for remote on/off? ACC is used as the remote line like with audio system, i.e. audio is disabled if ACC goes down, and enabled if ACC is up. Would be mentioned in the after-market AC's manual.

If you take tap-off from the regular blower supply (front AC), you will have to change the rating of that fuse to account for higher load.

re: The Tata Safari 2.2L Technical / Problems Thread

On way back from Gwalior on the Agra- Delhi Yamuna expressway, suddenly i noticed that my car would not go above 130KM/hr and around 3k RPM, no matter how much the acceleration pedal was floored.

I ignored that assuming it might be something to do with excessive temperatures on that day. However the same behavior is now stuck. The car is not accelerating like it used to.

Mechanic said, my clutch has issues, and replaced it, though i just replaced it about 20k km back.. ANyways the situation improved but still not resolved.

The smoke is fine.
There are no jerks or anything else
No system/engine light.
No vacuum tubes leak.
Changed fuel filter and sedimentor. (car already done around 83k)
Air filter is also clean.

Please help, what may be the issue..2 Mechanics have failed, and i am sure the TASS wont be able to recognize it also..

Most likely you are just feeling it that way if nothing else has changed.

2 possible causes:
1. You were driving directly head-on into heavy wind
2. There is a rev limiter in place (ECU) - only TASS can figure out

At least TASS can ask someone in the backend. Other mechanics will only be speculating if they don't know - and that is dangerous.

How would a rev limiter interfere with quick acceleration?
Quick acceleration does not mean slipping the clutch till desired velocity has been attained!!

Your problem is not of clutch as RPM does not go beyond 3K in case of clutch slip RPM should increase but speed will not.

I think the problem as described is not of quick acceleration but not able to go beyond a peak.

I have no clue but peak performance is impacted so look at EGR + intercooler cleaning if oil has accumulated in last 6 years then IC cooling might have reduced

Ankur, most proabably the rear wheel bearings are shot. Get them checked. the best way to do so is put car on ramp and spin rear wheels. If there is a lot of resistance it means they are kaput.

How old is your car. Have you ever change the rear bearings(hub bearings)?
Also when did you last get greasing done?
