If you have done all of this, then looks like there is some other problem with the vehicle and needs further diagnosis. One of the concerns is that, when you are starting it after a long time, the pressure in the fuel lines is dropped due to the halt, when you are trying to crank, your fuel pump is not generating enough pressure at the first crank, to fuel the engine, and hence not starting. If you halt for lesser time, the pressure in the fuel lines has not dropped much, and the pump, even if compromised, still is generating sufficient + the delta of the pressure before stop to fuel the engine. This indicates a weak fuel pump. In order to check this, any competent FNG with a scanner needs to access the fuel system, and check whether the requested value is being delivered by the fuel pump, if not, then change out the fuel pump, as it has gone weak after years of usage. If not, then there are other ways, once you try this out, post the results here.

Happy Motoring!
Thanks a lot for the suggestions Bsilver. This is very useful.

I took the car to an auto electrician (after trying to find one for over a week during the Diwali week). Initially no-one wanted to touch the Alternator and everyone told me to not to touch it if it is working fine. Meaning everyone is recommending to replace the alternator when it stops working but don't repair or service it if the car is working fine.

So this electrician initially checked the voltage and it is indeed lower - at 13.xxx. He first checked the starter motor since he had doubts on it too. The Brushes were worn out and he actually replaced the entire brush holder along with new brushes, instead of only replacing the brushes. I guess it is too much of labor involved in changing only the brushes.

For the start-up problem that I had, it has been fixed very well now and the car cranks up effortlessly regardless of the time of the day. So one problem is fixed.

Later this guy mentioned that for Laura, he will not be able to remove the alternator for servicing given the location of the same. It is located below the engine and very close to the timing kit. So this work will involve opening all nearby parts too. He has recommended to have this done at a garage and then bring in the alternator to him for servicing. The weekend was busy and hence I will get this done later in coming 1-2 weeks since I want to be with the car when this is done.

Cost me 2000 INR in total (May be a bit high, may be not, but I guess I will take this as a learning).

I want the alternator to be serviced/cleaned and fixed if necessary since I believe it will enhance the life of the alternator and avoid any car breakdown at an odd hour.
