Can your expressway driving be classified as "Highway" instead of city.

cause if you call it city in means 'stop, start, idling,frequent gear changes, maybe bumper to bumper' i bet you are not doing all that on the express way are you?

My Drive : In terms of time spent on road constitutes 50 % on Highway & 50 % bumper to bumper.But in terms of Distance it is 80 % -20%. i consider the duration as vehicle consumption of fuel has a substantial share of time spent running/idiling.

I think you can make out the answer.If i only consider express highway that average would definately be more than 20.

According to me in Multijet engine would give best average if driven from 60-78 & from 81-84.

Average F E: 20.1 kmpl.AC on 40% of time.
Fuel: Normal diesel

VISTA QJD

1st week after first service!

16.8 kmpl @1578 kms on odo.

100% AC, 100% City conditions, normal diesel (IOC)

good improvement!

Palio MJD - first service done, 1750kms on the odo. Latest refill after 60:40 city:highway run with 50% AC returned 20.34. Also, had a "forced" oil change, car has definately become smoother.

Palio SDX really bad driver.....

Average 14.73 kmpl over 32 litres measured full tank to full tank.

Gear change
1@1200rpm
2@1800 (at least try to)
after that 2K+

Driving purely city idling,most driving on 3rd between 20 and 40 kmph top speed on a couple of km stretch 80-100

Ac 50% (very cold in bangalore these days)

Driven about 50 km + with low tire pressure.
Floored the pedal at times. No rolling while idling in gear.

Your last reported FE was some where 12 km/lts.

Swift VDI DDIS

I drive with windows closed always and 100% AC and frequently travel to bangalore. These are my FE recorded ful tank to full tankwith 100% AC.

Bangalore: 16-17 KMPL (Bumper to Bumper traffic)
Trichur: 20-21 KMPL (Generally no much blocks and traffic signals)
Highway (Trichur to Bangalore and back): 24 KMPL (maintaining speeds between 80-120)

Fiat Palio SDX - 14000 mileage.

16.5 in city - Gurgaon/Delhi - 50% AC.
21 on Highway - Delhi, Ludhiana, Chandigarh, Ambala, Meerut, Gurgaon. 50% AC

I got 14.90 in last refill. It s the best ever from my SDX in city traffic!

the Vista was a revelation today! i filled her up today and got an astounding 19.43 kmpl!!!!

last week it was 16.x so its been a climb of nearly 3 kmpl! i hope this is maintained for a longer time.

Fuel: IOC normal diesel from the same petrol pump as always.

100% City conditions, 95% Aircon.

That's Super!!!! I guess, you are effectively using your RPM meter and the new found way of shifting gears using RPM meter. If my wife does not go in for new car coming Jan/Feb, my upgrade is definitely going to be Vista.
