@humyum

I'm a little new this information, but I also felt that the brakes on my SWIFT D are a weak.
How exactly can one check , if I come under the category of this replacement.
My car was manufactured in Dec 2008.

cheers

The new brake booster is been introduced in 2010 and all the new cars have the same, till 2009 there was no solution to the breaking with the new brake booster certainly performance has increased...

Replacement is again based on warranty of the car

Do not take otherwise but if you over the entire thread you will find all the answers

Re: Swift Diesel - New Brake Booster Design By Maruti

I have sent mails to Maruti and local dealer but responce is somehow like not accepting the breaking issue but ready to work on the issue.I have yet to visit them lets see when time permits, as thinking of getting it done on my own money, rather then asking for replacement as my vehicle is over 3 year old now.

Hi Rajkumar,
Thanks for your prompt reply, can I have yours or any service supervisors number to fix an appointment, weekends are quite fine with me.
The solution for poor breaks on Swift Diesel what I mentioned is not modification, its just a bigger break boosters which came in picture recently, I hope your work shop should be having that circular given by Maruti or just compare the booster of my car against the newer car.
Actually it should be recall from Maruti but still it’s not happening in India.
Regards,
XXXX

Subject: Issue with my Swift VDi breaks.

Hi,
I have logged a complain of weak breaks during last service of my car KA51 N 7672 couple of months back as its was taking two steps to stop the vehicle, after servicing it was OK with same weak performance for one week and again went back to same state and applies the break in two steps which is quite scary to drive around, can I have a permanent solution to this? Recently came across that Maruti is putting bigger break boosters is it true as breaks were issue from the day one in my car it never worked the way it should be.
Appreciate fast response with details about big break boosters and how I can get it done.
Regards,
XXXX

You may like to check on extended warranty of the car...

Even if you go for replacement it wont cost you more than 4000

But certainly would suggest to go for road test test with Maruti guys

Guys, finally got the Brake Booster changed. The process was super smooth and I would like to appreciate Maruti and Vitesse for this. Hats off for them for the support.

I raised a query with Maruti about this issue on Wednesday 08-Dec-2010 and on Monday 13-Dec-2010 I got a call from Vitesse that they have ordered the modified brake booster and the same would be arriving on Thursday 16th Dec.

Promptly I again got a call from Vitesse on Thursday stating that the part has arrived. Couldn't go over the weekend due to other plans but got the same changed on Monday 20th Dec 2010.

Paid Rs 300 for Brake Oil. Apart from the part, Labor and Brake bleeding was on the house as this work was under warranty.

Apart from the brakes, the bleeding seems to have done wonders to my clutch too as there was a little juddering which has gone away now.

Now, the final piece i.e. the brakes. I seriously sense a great change in them. Believe me, humyum did tell me about his brake change when he had done the same and all along I was skeptical about its advantages and hence was on the fence about doing this. His and Sameer's recent updates made me go for it.

Tested the brakes at 110 kmph and the braking was much better.
Don't know how long this bite in my brakes would last , but for the moment I am a happy camper

Cheers

Re: Swift Diesel - New Brake Booster Design By Maruti

Been to Pratham motors and looks like Maruti is not willing to accept their mistake of installing the same breaking system which they used in Petrol Swift and they are simply trying to justify that that its a upgrade same as other upgrades keep on coming in other components and not willing to concider this as recall, i told them its not a proper way to deal with old customers that too with geniune reson, abroad it's sure this could have qualified for recall.
Can we have a voting over here whether it should be a recall or can we consider this as "upgrade". Hope mods are aware of this thread and willing to push it to higher officials in Maruti.

Re: Swift Diesel - New Brake Booster Design By Maruti

Maruti would never go in for a recall for Break Boosters, specially this one. Considering the sheer volume of Diesel Vehicles sold (Read Swift,Dzire and Ritz) it will just be a chaos.

I tried getting it changed from Pratham and Mr Rajkumar (AGM service) declined giving me the same reasons given above.

Re: Swift Diesel - New Brake Booster Design By Maruti

Also the stock in not there, looks like Maruti is happy to loose their customers, was not happy with initial pickup of my car then this break issue along with bonous typical rattling issue found in all marutis.
Next i am not sure how Maruti is going to convience me to buy their car once again.

Re: Swift Diesel - New Brake Booster Design By Maruti

I would suggest call customer care and tell them the issue

customer care is most important for Maruti these days, Initially MASS was reluctant to accept the fact but when complained to Maruti and gave a poor performance rating they replaced the booster

So would suggest dont loose hope keep trying,

I drove my car for 4000 Kms after booster replacement and the braking experience is really great

Re: Swift Diesel - New Brake Booster Design By Maruti

There is no specific circular for new brake booster, you need to convince MASS for replacement of booster

Please dont take it otherwise but read through this thread you will get all the details
