Re: Dream Comes True -: Tata Safari LX

Congratulations !!!!! HappyRoadie, I am sure its definitely a dream come true when you buy your own Safari.

You are lucky to get so many freebies and discounts. Is this offer for this month in all showrooms?

Yes the cash discount was a December offer but rest of the things was done by Mr. Shakeel. Rest of the things which included Teflon, Antirust and matts was not in December offer. He got it done for us since he knew us.

Hi HappyRoadie, congrats on your new car. Safari is a good tourer. I too own one for the last 3 years and a 105,000 kms.

One question though, did you not at any time consider waiting for the 'Merlin'? A lot of information on the 'Merlin' is not concrete, but it may just turn out to be that Safari which appeals to both the heart and the mind.

Re: Dream Comes True -: Tata Safari LX

Thanks rrsteer for the wishes. When you like something from heart then nothing can take its place. I loved Safari since the time I saw it and Merlin was not able to take its place.

On a side note I was informed that in December 120 Safaris were sold by Goldrush.

Here are some more pictures.

These are the scuff plates that I got

Driver and co drover seats are very good and offer good thigh support.

AC vents near the driver and co driver side window. Really helpful during winters when mist forms on these windows.

Middle row door pockets are small compared to Grande but still helpful to keep magazines and stuff

Driver and co drivers side door pockets are of good enough size.

The center console. plastic is better than in Grande.

Rear AC vents with 12v mobile charging slot.

Re: Dream Comes True -: Tata Safari LX

After nearly 15 days got the Registration Certificate. Now I can use Safari freely. Without RC it is not safe to drive around. And as elections are going on here so police also check the car strictly. Today drove it for 26 km and loved the drive. The horrible speed breakers on the way are no more a problem. It will go for its 1st servicing on 30th of this month. Planning to install a front guard as I had put on my Grande. Though they are not recommended but they really protect the bumpers from getting scratched by crazy drivers.

AFAIK, your delivery challan is sufficient to drive your safari. Delivery Challan is treated on par with RC book as its RTO's process/fault to take a month to issue the RC Book. We as a customer do not have a say in the RTO's process. So Delivery receipt is treated on par with RC book, till your RC is despatched.

Yes, i second you, eventhough crash guards are harmful to pedestrian and livestock, I would still prefer to put a guard to protect my bumper from 2-wheeler riders than save pedestrians. No harm meant but this is just IMHO. I equally respect people who care for pedestrians more than their bumpers.

Thanks for the information. But as I have said that during elections police stop the vehicle which is without a number. So to avoid all this I preferred to keep Safari in the garage only.

Re: Dream Comes True -: Tata Safari LX

HappyRoadie - congrats on your buy
i am also in the market for a SUV and the choices are basically Scorpio and Safari. again like you my budget restricts me to not go beyond the Lx models.

but for the practical limitations of the Safari in the City and the purported reliability issues/niggles, i am leaning towards the Safari.

anyway i have still not made up my mind

I think you meant that you have finalised Scorpio. It is a very good vehicle and extremely easy to drive in city. The engine is very responsive. But at the same time is a great highway cruiser. Lets see which vehicle you choose and waiting for your ownership thread soon.

Re: Dream Comes True -: Tata Safari LX

Yesterday Safari went for the first servicing. Booked the car on 27th of this month. As soon as I reached the workshop, job card was opened and in 1 hour I got back the car. Was really impressed. But they spoilt the door pockets. Grease marks here and there. Will clean them today. Total amount paid was Rs 700. I have also installed front and rear guards. I will try to post the pics today.
