Re: Shadow Blue Diamond - VW Vento TDI HL

I like the wheel & tyres to be clean before cleaning the body.

What I have used here
-Mothers Foaming Wheel & Tire Cleaner
-Mothers Wheel & Wheel Well Long Handled Brush
-Meguiar's4 Hot Shine High Gloss Tire Spray

Before cleaning

After applying Meguiar's4 Hot Shine High Gloss Tire Spray

Next I tried cleaning my seat covers and exterior trim using
"Mothers 06524 VLR Vinyl?Leather?Rubber?Car"

Before cleaning, Notice the mudflap state

After cleaning, This is multi purpose product. I have also used them on beading rubber - Excellent results.

It looks new now.

Apart from the above I have also used

Meguiar's Water Magnet Drying Towel - Excellent results

Viking Diamond Weave Microfiber Windshield & Glass Cloth - I may have to try more times, but not impressive at first use

- I have used Amway Shampoo to clean
- Used water magnet to dry it
- Mothers clay bar system

Finally I didn't get time to wax it.
In the hot sun I was totally exhausted. So I couldn't continue.
All this effort took 1 full day with the help of my wife.

Re: Shadow Blue Diamond - VW Vento TDI HL

Why is the left side disc alone rusted? You might want to check your brake calipers.

Edit: Seems like it is the RH side only.

What did you use to apply Megs tyre shine & Mothers VLR polish and disc brake seems to have got all rusted. Was it due to the detailing being done with constant wash with water?

I really need to appreciate the efforts you guys are taking to maintain your car. Its amazing, though the pictures are pretty inspiring, I can never imagine myself going to this extent to keep my car clean.

Well done, cheers

Great illustration with good pictures TopSpeeder. You really seem to pamper your car a lot. Hope your car keeps shining & gleaming like this throughout its useful life.

Thanks, I noticed the rust only in disc not in caliper. Also it went off now, I couldn't see it now. Probably the driving few hundred kms might have cleared it.

But, Do you guys see any issue here?

I just sprayed tyre shine and make sure it's not spilling over to alloy.

Also I used Mothers VLR using an SONAX micofiber towel and not directly.
Also one point I noticed it, I could get black dust from beading rubber when I clean it.

Thanks. Yes, My family ppl also complain in the similar way. I guess it's my interest and inspiration from 'Todd Cooperider' makes me to do more of detailing.

I have maintained my Santro also in similar way for 10 yrs.

No issues until the car is kept stationary for long and car washer in bldg keeps washing it and making the disc rust more and more. Driving the car and applying brakes takes the rust off.

No problem. If one rubs a microfiber or cleans the black rubber beading, you find black dust on the microfiber.

Re: Shadow Blue Diamond - VW Vento TDI HL

I have ordered speakers on 22-Mar-2012, please find the details. After long research decided on focal speakers.

Focal 165 A1 (6.5 Inch Compoent System) - $ 140
Focal 165 CA1 (6.5 Co-Axial) - $ 100
International card processing fees - $ 13.18( I don't know why they changes this for Visa card, I didn't like it)

Total - $253.16(Rs 13,418)

Source : sonicelectronix.com

Notes on sonicelectronix:
I never heard this site and my friends too never heard about this, but checked with CNET and ratings was good.

- Packing and Shipping was good
- Also I got it for low price when compare with amazon.

This will be brought to Blr by May 28 when my relation comes from US. Will post pics that time.

Re: Shadow Blue Diamond - VW Vento TDI HL

My friend who came from US got my focal speakers, I will be getting it by this Sunday and planning to install in next weekend. Watch this space for more info on this.

I'm planning to install tweeters below the A-Piller, exactly in mid of the triangle space.
Please let me know any other better place to install them?.

Manickam do take lots of pictures and do put up a detailed review. Even planning on changing the HU or putting a amp? Also have a look at the cabling, might just need to change them to Scosche.

Putting the tweeter on the A-pillar would be the best. Have it installed in this way (Link).

Sure, I will post pics and review.
Pioneer 4490 is in my radar. But planning to do it in later, but not planning for amp.

I will check on the cable. I guess there is a cable comes in Focal pack, also ppl mentioned VW cable itself is good.

Regarding tweeter installation, I'm planning like this. I checked with Nilesh and found this place also good.

Did the mentioned pics is from your car??

Even I'm considering updating the ICE on my Vento too, so even I too had Pioneer HU on my radar, but it doesn't have all the features like time alignment, playback of lossless WAV files, etc.
Try JVC KW-R900BT which offers best SQ in 2 Din at good price of Rs. 15,000. With good tuning it would surely beat Pioneer in SQ, that's the same advice I got from our fellow ICE guru Bass&Trouble.

The pic with tweeter installed on A pillar is of fellow bhpian Subodh Vento. I would suggest you to go with the same as Subodh as it would give a better aesthetic & factory finished look.

As a wild idea you could try something like this Link. Have a look at this thread for some wild ideas.

I'm looking touch screen system with good sound quality. My bad I couldn't go away from Pioneer.
But not in near future, first speakers only. I'm trying to control my temptation.

Re: Shadow Blue Diamond - VW Vento TDI HL

Why need to change the OE speaker?

You can easily notice the 'dum' sound in OE speakers most of the time, I mean low frequency sound which eats most of the other bells here.

It's not woofer sound, thats what this speaker can interpret the some of sound signal.

For such a beautiful performing car, ICE is not doing justification is my thought in line with like minded ones.

Before changing the speakers, I have tried MP3 songs with 320 kpbs. It's slightly better but most of the time 'dum' sounds eats.

So decided to change the speaker first.

Which speaker?

I started my research 3 months back. When I went to local shop I found hertz was ranging 11.5K with installation. Then an idea came to my mind why not find something in US in the same price range, but probably better since it's an better market.

After research zeroed on Focal, visited their website and videos. Found interesting. I remember listing to focal one of the banquet hall that time I'm not aware of this company, but I could remember the sound was excellent and asked the hotel people for details and they said Focal. But don't remember which hotel was that.

How is the sound quality on this setup?

One thing I have tried is listening to same songs and compare OE with Focal.
- This gives more music for your ears
- The high frequency is good and different. Not like the one you see in cab
- I feel someone singing inside the car, crystal clear mid
- It also tells me not all low I heard in my OE are not the real ones.

So overall it sounds great.
