Dev, did you ask why the launch is being delayed? Concorde, being a subsidiary of the parent company may have more insider information.

Honestly, the amount of nervousness displayed by TML is really appalling. If marketed properly, the Storme is 90% what the Fortuner is, but, but but....

I did Hari, and was told that there are some changes being made to the PL vehicles before launch. What changes, they are not aware of it.

Pathetic on part of TML. What started as a 18 month project to upgrade Safari will probably go down in history books as one product that lost its plot on the way and just vanished. Slowly this is becoming one storm that everyone can start ignoring.

When i recently visited TATA service centre @ Coimbatore, i enquired about regular service person for Safari. They mentioned some of them are gone to Pune to get trained on STORME and they are expected to return from second week of Jul/2012

this looks like some internal problem at tata management. Maybe they are exiting the passenger vehicle segment altogether and thus the inordinate delay in the decision to announce launch of a new vehicle.

I don't mean offense to anyone but I do find this skepticism on Tata's continuity in the passenger vehicle segment quite amusing. I mean, after making so much of investment and spending a lot on development of vehicles, a manufacturer cannot pull the plug on its entire division just because one of the competitor products is taking all the limelight. Tata do have their fair share of the market and with the kind of access they have to resources and technology ( read JLR), one can be rest assured that they would want to bounce back strongly. So, let's just rest the idea of Tata pulling out of the passenger vehicle segment. It's just not gonna happen in the near future.

"Get rid of" does not mean "abandon" the entire operation. They could sell the division to a competitor and recover some money they already invested. The problem with JLR-TM marriage is they are at the 2 extremes. Bringing synergy between the 2 is practically impossible. Aria is an example where TM tried to go up the value chain, if Aria survived, we would have seen many platform/component sharing between the two and a whole new TM Passenger Car division. Reality is customers are not willing to pay premium price to Tata vehicles, no matter what.. So it makes sense to Focus on JLR and CV, sell the passenger car divison to some one like FIAT.

Storme will not be launched before November 2012. This is the information shared with me by top Tata officials on visit to Rathod motors from Pune.

With Nano alone raking sales in excess of 10000 a month and much more for Vista/Manza/Indigo Cs/Indica who will exit the passenger market? In-fact just 2 days back I saw a Indigo Cs (at least it looked like a cs from the front), with its rear section camouflaged/covered speeding on the pune expressway. From the brake-lights I could make out the possible return of the Indigo marina in its new avatar. So Tata's are firmly into passenger car segment. All things said and done, the Safari still sells about 2-3000 units a month, which is far more than what Endy/Koleos/Force/RiO sell.

Though I respect your point of view, I'll beg to differ. Anyway, I feel this discussion is going OT and let's end it here, shall we. We'll in any case get to know eventually.

Thanks.

Something wrong with this thread, I am not able to go to the last page [17th page] at all. It always lands at 16th page where it says "Page 16 of 17".

EDIT: Now, am able to marking this post so that I will be able to land in this last page properly.

Prem.

Though the delay in releasing the Storme is dissappointing for many of us, I feel that it is for the better as the vehicle the way it is doesn't offer any kind of USP over the competition. Hopefully Tata will get it right when they eventually do launch the Storme sometime this decade...

I differ here. Even today, just for the heck of it, go to a TML showroom, and sit in a display Safari. Be it the front seats or the middle row, the kind of comfort and ergonomics that it offers, with that decade old layout, is simply unmatched.
While newer vehicles like the Aria, the XUV and even the Fortuner give you an "impression" of legroom by compromising the width of the seat base, especially in the middle row, the Safari has a complete sofa in the name of a seat there.

Also, on most new vehicles, including the Fortuner, the floor is high, but it is perfect on the Safari.

That is where the Safari rules, comfort, space and ergonomics for 5.

Just wish the middle seats were reclining. That would have made it a perfect choice. Also, let's hope that in the Storme, the last row would be front facing.

Saw two Stormes recently. One white Storme flying on the bypass, with a proper registration plate. I came to know that senior TML employees have already got their hands on the Storme.

Saw a second Maroon colour Storme near my locality. Man! It looked stunning from all angles.

One of my friends who lives near the TML R&D plant area, says that he gets to see lots of Stormes going here and there everyday. BTW, scoop, scoop...He has also seen a Nano Diesel a few times at the same R&D plant.
