Bookings are not open yet and hence those posts cannot be true, unless dealers have begun them on their own.

Really doubt the info's credibility. With prices not being revealed and minimal advertising I cant see thousands of people booking the Storme straightaway.

Hoping Tata goes the XUV way and introduces the Storme into the market with a killer pricing!!

bookings are open and all dealers are booking cars. I was approched by Concorde motors mumbai for booking too.

Current booking amount is 51K with 100% refund policy

Engine: The Safari Storme is powered by the same 2.2L Dicor engine, but in a different state of tune and re-badged as the Varicor. It's a DOHC 16-valve unit with 138 BHP (@ 4,000 rpm) and 320 Nm of torque (@ 1,700 rpm). Gearbox is the G-76 Mark II. Claimed 0-100 kph in 15 seconds. ARAI rating is 14 kpl for the 4x2 and 13.2 kpl for the 4x4.



High Points:

• Lighter and stronger ladder frame with Hydro-Form technology, same as the Tata Aria. The Safari Storme still weighs 2,000 kilos for the base variant though.
• Redesigned front and rear end. Side profile more or less retains the characteristics of the old Safari.
• L x W x H = 4655 x 1965 x 1922. Wheelbase runs 2650 mm in length while the ground clearance is 200 mm.
• The Storme gets ventilated disc brakes on all four wheels, standard on all variants.
• 'Shift-on-the-fly' 4WD selection.
• The Storme loses the tail-gate mounted spare wheel.
• There is no plan to bring out a completely new Safari in the near future.
• A daily production rate of approximately 100 cars.
• The Storme will sell side-by-side with the older generation Safari.

Compared to the ol' Safari's front end, the new face isn't as aggressive. It's toned down, but definitely more contemporary:

Simple center console. Beige, black and wood blend nicely. Notice the short gear lever. Head-unit should have been placed above the A/C controls. To the RHS of the gear lever is the 'shift-on-the-fly' selector and on the LHS, the cigarette lighter:


A/C has an ECON mode. Rear A/C is powered by the same compressor doing the job at the front:


Air-con wasn't too effective on the sunny day:


Basic speedometer console:


Brake & Clutch pedals have an awkward angled positioning. No spot to rest your left foot:


Glovebox runs deep:


Roof mounted A/C blower:


2nd row seats have ample space to accommodate 3. Soft seats provide good support:


Lever to tumble down the 2nd row 60:40 seats:


3rd row seats have ample lateral space. Travelling sideways is a tummy-testing experience for most of us though:


Head-room is an issue here. Anyone above 5.5 ft height will have trouble sitting straight:

I have a sinking feeling every time I open this thread to check the latest. 2 months back I had a choice to wait for this vehicle. And I did not. I have a sneaking suspicion that this may just turn out to be the best SUV out there.

All I d like to say at this moment is that you are very close to the truth. The Storme is an SUV that will delight most but disappoint nobody.

That is an alloy wheel from Aria, which IMHO is 17". Unless, they are now planning to introduce the same in 16".

Of course, I am quoting after visiting the showroom. The best offer we got is 30000/- discount with some freebies worth 10000/-.
Additional 20000/- as exchange bonus.

Hence, I am suggesting that do not quote the misleading information. Based on your update, I made my brother visit Tata Dealership in Pune, expecting 60K discount with some freebies on current Safari. But he had to return empty handed.

Finally booked Storme by paying 50K. Dealer had promised the test drive next weekend, which my family is eagerly looking forward to.

That Safari has Aria allloy, black rear view mirror,some issue with rear mud guard too.

Piece of cladding over rear wheel arch is missing, it looks like a Safari with cannibalized parts.
