Re: Ford EcoSport 1.5D Titanium - Owner's Log of the Beauty, or the Beast?

Glad to hear that the brakes are excellent, and that the ABS did its part.

Get rid of those MRFs as soon as they wear out, and put Michelins all around, and the car will be even better!

Mod Note : Team-BHP strongly discourages unsafe driving practices that put yourself and other road users at risk. Please do NOT post about illegally high speeds on public roads.

We advise you to read the Forum Rules before proceeding any further.

The car performed really well. The steering weighed during high speed cruising and the car was planted on the road. In the Perundurai - Blore stretch , the car was cruising at 120-140km/hr, although it was 120km/hr most of the time. While cruising at 120km/hr, the rpm was at 2.5k and the instantaneous mileage reading was hovering at 15-17kmpl. Above that and the mileage drops below 15. Had a chance to test the ABS at few occasions and it did a good job but MRF is pathetic. Jumped a few speed breakers and the high GC played its role here. Overall, an excellent cruiser but really miss the 6th gear.

Hey Naveen,

ABS is a real must must in India. I myself has experienced the goodness of ABS a couple of times. Good to know that the car feels stable at high speeds with that sort of mileage figures.

+1 to demon's comment.

Re: Ford EcoSport 1.5D Titanium - Owner's Log of the Beauty, or the Beast?

10k Service Report:

Serviced the car at 9.8k odd kms. Gave for service at 10am and was ready by 4pm. Completely satisfied with the work and the vehicle is really smooth.
Total Bill - 1698/-

Complaints reported:
1) Occasional vibration sound from the front passenger door - Rectified
2) Occasional sound from the hatch door (guess many have reported that here TBHP). The SA also stated it's a common complaint. Said it's from the hinge - Rectified
3) Felt the suspension was a bit hard - Rectified, a lot better now over potholes.

Talked to the SA regarding the confusion regarding the oil quantity and I wanted to clear it before they serviced my car. He confirmed it's 3.8L.

Going for alignment tomorrow as I didnt want them to do this. Will update my findings.

What did they do to fix the hard ride?

Changed the suspension bush (rear ones). Cant say it's soft now but felt better when I took it over rough potholes.

You sure you cannot rule out placebo? I would like to know if you still feel so in the long term.

Thanks for the update. What did they do to resolve this noise? I'm facing the same, Bangalore's roads have improved over the past few months hence its less irritating.

  • Did they change the hinge for the front door?
  • I'm not sure whether changing a bush in the suspension will do the trick for hard ride quality.
  • Do they fill more oil than required in Ford ASS?

The water wading depth is 550 mm for ecosport, must have passed the test with flying colours

They just removed the speaker and screwed it again. Might be something to do with a loose fitment.

1) Nope, they just lubricated the hinge. There's still a light sound but way better than the previous 'irritating' noise as this is really evident since the cabin is well insulated.
2) Not much but better now. Also I didnt want a real soft suspension as I know the side effect of since I have a Verna in my garage.
3) Nope, 3.8L as mentioned in the manual. I got this confirmed even before they started the work.

Looks like you went up and down the road past the KSRTC stand? Was it purely to check the water wading prowess?
I feel envious of Ecosport owners who have a huge advantage in conditions like this which unfortunately are all too common in low lying Ernakulam. Happens everytime there is a heavy session of rain - with the open drains choked with plastic and stuff. I think King Nero must be the patron saint of our esteemed civic authorities.

. My office is near the stand. That's my daily route. Was really flooded in the morning and I couldnt click that section. Yes, few good points that makes the car pretty good.

Re: Ford EcoSport 1.5D Titanium - Owner's Log of the Beauty, or the Beast?

Sorry to interrupt. But have a doubt.

Got my ES in Sep 2013. Since day 1, I have been driving it to work. That is about 10 kms of drive everyday. Starting last month, my employer has provided me with a vehicle for official use. So this takes care of my pick up and drop. Now my usage of the ES is restricted to weekends and other holidays. Is there any special care or specific precautions to be taken to prevent any kind of issues either short term or long term?

Just make sure you start the car, say twice a week so that the battery health is in check. Other than that the car should do fine.

Think that's the suspension bush. Had asked them to check it. Before they take it for service, just confirm the oil quantity. There's a big confusion in some of the service stations as mentioned in the thread. It's 3.8L, so just confirm this with them. Did you get the service reminder on the MID? If not, it will appear when you are closer to 10k. If it appears after the service, you will need to reset it. I have posted the reset procedure in the ecosport main thread. Kindly keep me posted of your experience and the total cost.
