Did you feel the vibration on the break pedal ? if yes this could be ABS kicking in just when you ht the pothole and press the brakes. I have also felt the same vibration on break pedal and ding noise in my petrol automatic verna 4s which i think is normal abs behavior.

Yes Sir! I felt the vibrations on the brake pedal. It was pretty prominent. Another issues I have been noticing offlate. I could be obsessed here. Nevertheless no harm in asking. I feel all small minor road undulation in the car cabin. I did not get a chance to drive any other Verna in the recent past to compare it against what I feel in mine. However I did sit in Ciaz and I could feel that the ride was much smoother and it just irons off most of the minor road undulations. Is this the same with all Verna's?

Yes, each time I brake over a bumpy road there are vibrations and a knocking of sorts through the brake pedal.
Not from the suspension though.

I tried hard braking on a smooth stretch, there were no issues.

Don't worry Sir vibrations on brake pedal while hitting potholes and uneven surface is normal ABS behavior , you can confirm it from service center folks during your first service.
Regarding ride quality my Verna 4s came with bridgestone tyres and i have found the ride to be quite pliant and smooth but i used to drive an accent before. You could check the tyre pressure , anything above 32 psi makes the ride quite bumpy.

Hey kk28, i too drive a Verna 2015 4S & have been driving it for a year now. Before this i was driving a Tata Manza Aura ABS Safire.

Braking of the Manza was absolute legendary if anyone has an experience of driving it.

Just to quell your anxiety, the "braking of Verna" is also quite confidence inspiring & never panicky as my daily drive of 70 kms allows me to drive substantially over highways with great scope for speeding & braking. I believe the right slotting of the gear is necessary for any hard braking & any emergency braking will make the ABS kick in rather rapidly, just as spooky says & make the car quiver a little momentarily, but nothing else.
in the 2015 Verna, Hyundai has ironed out the flaws of the suspension ( soft) of the oft complained earlier Verna, hence the suspension feedback is felt at every opportunity. Earlier Verna would have rocked harder whereas this one doesn't.

Talking of Ciaz experience, i find it rather odd & highly unlikely as the "wider" ( 195,16") tyres of Verna would handle any undulations with much more aplomb than Ciaz imo.

If you can replicate, please see if the ABS light is flashing at that moment. Since it has started raining,I have experienced ABS kicking in on couple of occasions over bad roads. Yes, it creates quite a racket and was unnerving for someone like me who is driving an ABS equipped car for the first time.

No this is a distinct feeling through the pedal.

The ABS light was not flashing. It has happened at low speed normal braking as well. Is there such a thing as feeling the ABS kick in? I have braked hard and its normal, very smooth, no noise for sure.

I think you should get your brakes checked.

Alert !!

Philips Xtreme Vision bulbs dont go with the projecor lights that Hyundai has on the new Verna. I bought these at Rs 2400, a pair, from Powerbulbs.uk based on recommendations; only to realize that projectors have a different holder type.

Has anyone tried upgrading the OEM projector headlamps on Verna or Elite i20? Verna definitely has pathetic lighting on OEM set-up.

Hello,

I was thinking of upgrading the projectors for my car. I currently have ZERO idea about the alternatives. I plan to ask the SA when I take my car to the servicing next week. Will let you know what he tells me.

re: Review: The 2015 Hyundai Verna Facelift (2nd-gen)

Hello All,

Yesterday was my Verna's 1st anniversary. Therefore, I thought of thanking you guys for all your support and guidance. The below points summarize my experience with my car over the past year:

Car : Hyundai Verna 1.6 VTVT S(O)
KMs done: 10056 in 365 days (Average ~ 28 KMs daily) (99% with AC on)
KMs on Highway ~ 4500 KMs (45%)
City mostly driven: Bangalore
Major Incidents: None
Breakdowns / Technical Problem: None
Failed to start : None

Summary:
1. Car (overall) : BEAUTIFUL design. I cannot stop admiring her. The design flows so well, would thank the fluidic designing team for coming up with it. Extremely reliable and very easy to maneuver through the city.

2. Engine : Butter smooth. Has loads of power on tap. I normally keep the RPM between 1000 - 2500 in the city. Drives effortlessly. I have found myself @ 40 KMPH, in 5th gear, going up a flyover with the AC on and the engine pulled ever so smoothly. On the highway, the RPM is mostly between 1500 - 3500 and the engine note is sweet. Overtaking is a simple dab on the accelerator. No downshifting required unless its an incline. Just once have I taken it till 5000 RPM, in 2nd gear and the power was an absolute delight.
Sometimes (when I am alone), I mute the music and just listen to this 1.6 litre beast going up and down the revs.

3. Suspension & handling: Appropriate balance between softness and stiffness. Bottomed out once when I had 5 people on board and a boot full of luggage. But to be honest, the speed breaker was unscientific. Otherwise, the ride is comfortable in the city. On the highway, I found the stiffness to be set up just right. No bouncing even at higher speeds. Never did I have to back off because of an unsettled ride.

4. Transmission: A delight to use. Precise and short throws. Light clutch makes city driving a breeze. I think Hyundai have one of the best gearbox + clutch set-up available in India.

5. OEM Headlamps: They serve the purpose. But lately, I have felt the need for more power so counter the insanely bright, high beam idiots who can be found in abundance. So, I am thinking of an upgrade.

6. OEM Tires: I have stuck to the stock 195mm R16 Bridgestone B250. No tire puncture so far. Performance has been satisfactory. Plus, I have never used any other tires to compare.

7. OEM Alloys: Yes these do deserve a special mention. Love the diamond cut design. I just keep them shining and they add a whole new level to the overall looks of the car.

8. AC: More than adequate for Bangalore. Always use it in Auto mode. Gets quite noisy at higher blower speed though, hindering conversations.

9. Comfort: Front seats are supremely comfortable. Have driven 650 KMS in a day with no back pain. Back seat could have been better.

10. Boot Space: HUGE. I have successfully loaded 2 full sized suitcases, 2 cabin baggage sized suitcase, a laptop bag and a few odd polythene bags in the boot at a time. Also, I recently shifted my house and the boot was a big helping hand.

11. Braking and ABS : Braking takes getting used to initially. The brakes bite in more than you are expecting. Thankfully haven't had to reach out the big brother ABS so far.

12. Features: LOADED. I have read multiple posts on T-Bhp which mentioned that features aren't something we should go after when making the purchase decision as they soon become un-used gadgetry. I, fortunately, did not agree to this thought process and one of the reasons of going for the Verna were the amount of features. I find the following extremely useful:
a. Rear camera and parking sensors.
b. True key-less and Go with push button start.
c. Electro-chromic auto-dimming IRVM.
d. Power adusting and power folding ORVM.
e. Automatic Climate Control unit.
f. Cooled glove-box
g. Sliding driver's armrest.
h. Dual Airbags. (Have not used them, hope I never do).

13. Hyundai Service: Excellent. Very professional. Luckily have a Hyundai Service Center within 1 KM of both my home and office locations.

Dislikes:
1. The rear bench angle could have been better. And, the high-window line make the rear seat and less-liked place in the car.

2. Request sensor on the passenger door side. Why Hyundai, why have you skipped this? It causes inconvenience at times.

3. Auto-up and down feature for all power windows rather than just for the driver's side window.

4. Auto-folding of ORVM when the car is locked (not sure if this can be enabled now)

5. Auto door locking at a certain speed (say 15kmph). Again, not sure if this can be enabled now.

6. Missing DRLs. I loved the headlamps of the 2014 Verna. Pity that Hyundai dropped the DRLs from the 4S Verna.

7. No sill plates fitted from the factory. Further, even after multiple requests, haven't been able to get these from the dealer.

Accessories added:
1. Caska AVN bought directly from Hyundai. Apart from the fact that the telephone receive and reject buttons on the steering do not work with this unit, everything else has been perfect. Navigation support from Map My India is good and pretty accurate.

2. Floor mats.

3. Custom Seat covers from Imperial Leathers, Bangalore. Delighted with these.

Overall Summary:
A. Satisfied with my purchase: A big YES.

B. Alternatives considered and ranking: Verna > Vento > Ciaz > City
Infact, the Vento was pretty close and only lost out because the 2015 Vento was about to come and I couldn't wait.

C. Would I recommend it? Depends. The only person whom I would not recommend the Verna too, would be the person who has back-seat comfort (chauffeur driven) as his top most priority.

D. Would I buy it again? Too far to comment. I love this one to the core and intend to keep her for a long duration. By then, who knows what the market offers.

Nicely put, agree with most of your points!

Fully agree. Though the perception can hardly be changed now, even if they improve it to Linea standards! Where I think there is more scope for improvement, is the steering.

I had done some very basic research, and found that this profile is extremely hard to get. i.e, you can only replace this with another Bridgestone. Though, 205/55R16 seems to be relatively more widely available.

My experience has been the reverse. The brakes are a little more spongy compared to my previous car, though the brakes themselves have no issues. So you need to calibrate your braking pressure appropriately.

This works for me. I think this was available (as seen in the brochure) only on the top end 6 airbags variant.

Yes I think only Bridgestone comes with this profile. I still have some time to go before the tire changes are needed. So I would do the research then.

The auto-lock feature is available on the SX variant. Mine being S(O), I am wondering if it can be enabled at the Service Center.

Also agree with your comment on the steering. It is really light and easy to use in the city. On the highway, it still remains light. Though it doesn't cause any problem to me (I guess I have got used to it), a little more weight would definitely help when cruising on triple digit speeds.

Also, I was wondering if the petrol could come with a 6 speed manual in the next iteration. At 120 kmph, the engine is spinning at ~3500 RPM. An additional cog could lower this and make the cruise more relaxed. Hope Hyundai are hear this one !

Congrats on your anniversary drive2eternity !

Ditto that ! Couldn't have written any better !

On the OEM Headlamps however, you have answered it yourself !

It's the high beam idiots who are making you feel the brightness of Verna is inadequate but in real terms that's not the fact.
On my many discussions with the Hyundai Service guys on this & from my personal experience the projector beams are fairly adequate , if not like the "Search Light" types that the insane high beam idiots want to portray.

In perfectly illuminated cities such as Mumbai/Bengaluru the brightness might seem little ineffective but it's not required in the first place. Most of the hard core mumbai drivers drive with just the parking lights on, including the cabbies.

It's the highways & upcountry driving where the lights come to the fore & these seem perfectly capable of decent visibility imo !

You said it perfectly !

I too was driving a fantastically capable braking car earlier & hence i thought initially the brakes weren't biting hard enough, however over a period now when you get used to the new braking dynamics, the brakes are just as good. They appear a tad spongy at times, but the end effect is a sure & confidence inspiring stop. A recent example is an Innova banged me from behind whereas my Verna held pretty well against the car in front !

Hello Autotranny,

I underwent an experience quite similar to yours. Here's what happened:
Yesterday morning, I drive to the Hyundai Service Center at Graphite signal for my 2nd free service.
After the usual checks, the SA asks me if I want him to check anything specific. I tell him no, but I do want an upgrade for the bulbs. He takes me the accessories section, where a fancy looking demo model of Osram is available. He tells me that the Verna has 2-pin set up, while most other cars have a 3-pin set up. He then shows me an Osram H4 Night breaker Ralley bulb and compare it to the standard fitment in my Verna. Its definitely brighter. He says it will cost 2000/- for the pair and I give him the green signal. I ask him if this will fit the projector lamps and he nods in positive.
Fast forward to 3PM, I go to pick-up the car which is almost ready. He gets the new pack of bulbs from the store, I tag along as he goes to the car. He opens the hood, and soon takes out the original bulb from the left headlight. And kaboom, suddenly, he realizes that even the 2-pin set up is for Fluidic Verna without projectors. He has no idea which bulb will fit in the 4S Verna. He scampers off to the accessories store and returns stating that the 4S Verna has 'push type' socket, and he is sorry for the delay and that they do not have any push-type bulb in stock.

So cutting the long story short, I wasted about an hour (but unlike you, no cash) trying to upgrade the bulb but to no avail.

Its very surprising that the so called Service Engineer does not have a clue ; in my case, the service engineer knew very well that Hyundai projectors come with different kind of bulbs. Anyway, guided by another forum member, I've hopefully found the answer ; the bulb type for Verna projector is HB03 (9005) and not H4 like what many would have told you.
