re: CrossbreedŽ | Mi10's Maruti S-Cross 1.6 DDiS 320 - Remapped! Update: Sold!

congratulations on the remap! you are definitely a brave one to remap a brand new car that has run under 1500 km. As they say, the heart always wins in the end!

Congrats on the remap, Mi10! Knowing how particular you are about your rides, I'm certain the end result would be superb.

However, it's still not something I'd agree with.

For one, the S-Cross 1.6 is awesome in stock form itself. The engine is beautiful and I don't agree with modifying for the sake of modifying. Second, your car is too new and still within the warranty period. Just not something I would do.

If it were me, I'd enjoy the car in stock form for a couple of years. Then, when I get bored, I'll get a remap to spice things up (as I did with my Civic and its RD box, exhaust & intake at the 5 year mark).

Yep, i do agree, this move wasn't made under the necessity tab. There is no hard rationale behind remap'ing a 1.6 on Performance front. I also concur with the view of enjoying the stock car for couple of years and then modding it later on. Just that, my average car life span and the way i am put up (Less Logic, more Fun) convinced me to remap. To be frank, mod potential was also one of the key criteria in my list of requirements. This car was brought with remap already on cards. Hence definitely not a need based move.

Average Life span of Cars: Most of the cars we owned have pretty short life span (as depicted below)
Alto - 3 Years / 21000 kms
i10 1.2 - 1 Year / 8500 kms
Swift 1.3 Vxi - 5 Years / 27400 kms
Fiesta 1.6 S - 4 Years / 28500 kms
Verito 1.5 Dci - 1 Year / 16500 kms
Rapid 1.6 TDI - 2.5 Years / 26500 kms

The Rapid was the only car, which i had plans to keep for 5 years, but cut short because of external reason. Overall Average Life span for my cars would be around 2.5 - 3 years. Hence i would as well, have fun right from the start!

Good, Bad and Mad:
And this is not the first time.

The i10 in one year i owned, had its ICE set up changed 6 times!

This Happened to the Fiesta when it was 1 month old:

This Happened to the Rapid when it was 1.5 Months old:

Of course, i am not trying to justify this move as a right one, however, i am just trying to convey that, this madness was always there with me

Like they say, somebody's poison is someone elses' Nectar! However purely from a recommendation stand point, i will never push anyone to do such stuff on new cars, unless they know what they are doing. Apart from Financial drain and time involved, there are huge risks that accompany mods.

On a lighter note, i find this a better proposition than spending money on lame cosmetic modification and ending up ricing the car!

Dude love your madness , but that too needs some real courage!
So whats your plans on the ICE upgrades? Sure that is going to be the next bomb.

Right now the Focus is on fine tuning the map to my taste.
Also, planning some subtle, Aesthetic mods both exterior and interior (Haven't even fixed seat covers)
ICE, i will take as the last item, because it has to be something unique and special, much beyond just 4 way Active setups. Hence needs more ground work and planning (both technical and financial)

Mi10,
I have a few questions.
1.Is it required to open up the ECU for every flash or is it like vento/rapid which requires bench flash only for first time?
2.Does it smoke post remap?
3.How is the power post remap in low and top end?
4.What is the turbo boost pressure post remap?

Yes it requires to open up the ECU for every Flash. That's precisely the reason why we used the XYJDYX chip which enables OBD flashing

Low End - Marginal difference,
Mid End - Huge Difference
Top End - Not yet checked

Didn't bother to ask, since it was a base tune. Once we finalize the map, will publish all details.

Do you have obd tool and torque pro app? If so, you can check the boost.
My SX4 stock boost was 19 psi, now it is around 23.8 psi. I had fine tuned my car yesterday. Boost was increased further by 100 mbar and AFR increase in previous map deleted.. Now no black smoke!!

I have been using the OBD / Torque Pro app from 2012. Unfortunately, i had it inside the rapid when it was caught in the floods.

Yet to order a new one. Will post updates on this for sure.

You have some real guts Mi10. Playing so much with a 2-3 months old car worth Rs 15 lacs (more-or-less). I would get a heart attack seeing a new car like this.
Jokes apart!

Seems a big surprise coming soon. The teaser pic says a lot.

Eagerly waiting for the updates!

Aakarsh

Bro you are just about gonna scare a lot more/many than just one 'Crow'

I have driven the DDiS 320 and it gave me that tingling feeling when I floored it...this was the only reason I bought 1.6 GT TDi. And all this was in its OEM tune.

You went ahead and remapped this brutality even before hitting 1k Kms

Personally, if I had to critic S-Cross, it had to be those bland headlamp cluster. And now you have fixed that too.

Arguably, this is turning out to be the best S-Cross on the forum now.

Keep it coming bro with loads of pics please.

re: CrossbreedŽ | Mi10's Maruti S-Cross 1.6 DDiS 320 - Remapped! Update: Sold!

I really respect your decision to do the remap way for your new car. Just curious on how is the NVH and overall refinement post the remap. I tend to believe that the OEM knows best regarding the optimum setting for a car. I understand that optimum doesn't always mean the best performance but in terms of NVH & refinement can you really better the OEM setting?
