Cool...thanx for the prices guys.

I am glad this segment is getting more competitive. I am considering buying the 1.4 Fiesta though initially wanted to go for the ZXI, after test drive found the 1.4 to be more than enough for city driving & occasional highway.

Its interesting to see Verna base model being offered with so many goodies plus the more powerful engine at just some 75K more than EXI petrol.

7.35 ex-showroom for the CRDI is similar to the Accent CRDi prices when it was launched.....sounds good so far. And if XI is the equivalent of the Accent GLS at that time, it is the same as what I paid for my car (6.26 ex-showroom in 2002 as against 6.36 for the XII).

Does that mean the Accent becomes even cheaper? Now THAT is an interesting thought......

Why did it have to be so ugly???

Damn Hyundai, they always do this. They make a good all round car that appeals to your mind and practical instincts, so you really want to buy it...and then they make it plain ugly and abuse your aesthetic senses.

It's like they're hellbent on making you choose between your head and your heart.

First with Accent, then Elantra, now this. Only Embera seems to have been spared this fate.

The Accent CRDi is discontinued. Or will be in the very near future.

yes, the front end design and the positioning of the Hyundai badge ain't exactly endearing.

added ltr: who know that is probably their strategy ! Design ugly cars with good engines. Later turn out an Acura or Infiniti type label with great looking exteriors and great engines and charge a premium.

Mods, any reason why there are two Hyundai Verna threads running simultaneously? One here & the other in the Indian car scene.....seems pretty much the same topic under discussion? Would do good if they were merged I think.

There seem to be huge differences in prices on the two threads

Cheers

Not commenting on the Verna's looks till I see it in the flesh. However, @Boom, as much as I agree with you about the Elantra, the Accent is not that bad in looks. I mean, it is not exactly an OHC or Lancer, but still not something you can call ugly.

BTW, before they introduced the Accent years ago, they had shipped down some 20 or so original Accents (as available elsewhere) for testing Indian conditions or whatever. I used to see them on the streets and liked the looks (smallish with a different boot). But then they modified it to make it look bigger (maybe their study said "Indians like it bigger") and I was so disappointed at that time.

The Accent CRDi has not been discontinued. Yet. Still available on order.

But coming to the Verna CRDi. Yeehaaa. 7.35 ex-showroom Delhi means about 8.2 on-road, Mumbai. Perhaps even lower. Discount 20-30K for Thane. Now that's really enticing. The Verna is definitely a notch above the Fiesta TDCi. Petrol, well- I'll leave that for later; after personal testing.

Looking at the petrol Verna, I really don't see why people would opt for the Accent. Unless, like Steeroid bhai says, Accent prices are dropped to gun the Esteem. Really involving times ahead..
