So it was time again to give the car a wash and wax (it's a royal pain to maintain this colour). This time however I went an extra mile and applied the Ecstar Wax on top of the Turtle Wax Ice Seal and Shine Spray.

I got this product from Maruti as a complimentary gift during one of the services of my previous vehicle.

Here are the results:









It was manageable to apply and buff.

Within a week, the car was dirty again (without even leaving the basement). There was a fine layer of dust all over the car. Attaching some pics:

Washing the car every other week, was not a very feasible solution.

Team-BHP reviews of Jopasu Duster came to my rescue. Here are my observations after using it twice:

1. The Duster does pick up dust easily, but not always in one swipe. In certain areas, multiple swipes are required

2. It is very convenient to use on taller vehicles. Works very well on vehicles with sun roof.

3. It is very very useful for folks who "do-not-want-to" or "can-not" bend down to clean the lower car body areas:

4. It works well on difficult to clean surfaces like grill and crevices:

5. I can see some spots which are left. It's difficult to say whether they were already there or are an after effect of the wax on the duster



6. The duster get's super dirty (and will continue to become worse)



The overall results are good. For a car that has not been washed, I would say it's pretty good.

Please do not write with your finger on a dusty vehicle , that color is beautiful when clean and - scratch free - .

You may want to lay off on the Jopasu, it's going to look nice and shiny with very little effort with that duster , that is until the duster scratches the hell out of your paint.

Thats so true. These dusters are not that magical, although good.

There are some aspects that are often neglected by the way:
1. They need to be used very carefully. Only the tips of the duster threads should be used to wipe off dust. The duster should never be pressed against the paint.
2. It is very important to recharge the duster using those wax refills. Else, it would leave a lot more scratches on the paint.

Point Number 1 noted and will be followed. Reg Point 2, how often should this be done, once in 6 months?

Six months is the general rule as per what I have read. I have a 6-7 years old Jopasu duster that I have never rejuvinated by the way as I have used it for 3-4 times only till date.

This post is mainly around the fuel efficiency. The vehicle did not see a lot of road, largely due to the Omicron spread.

However, I did manage to clock around 470 kms and refill was done for 36 Litres. Which results in a fuel efficiency of 13.05 Kms/L.

Out of the above 470 kms, 173 odd were on Arani-Bangalore highway (good roads).
Around 200 kms, in Bangalore-Kanakpura highway (which is in a shamble)
And rest in internal roads of Bannerghatta-Begur area (internal roads going through layouts)

The SmartDrive app seems to be accurate with the per drive fuel efficiency. Unfortunately it does not show average fuel efficiency over multiple drives. It has also missed capturing one of my long drives.

So far, I am satisfied with the city fuel efficiency, which is hovering around 11 Kms/L. I am fine with the highway fuel efficiency, however I think it can be improved by using cruise control, avoiding harsh braking and keeping the speeds around 80 (which requires self-restraint).

MG should consider adding hybrid to the automatics as well. Alternatively, they should bring in a Diesel Automatic.

Total Fuel Consumed: 29.9 L

Efficiency: 10.83 Kms/L

Traffic Conditions: Largely driven in Moderate to High traffic conditions

Smart Drive App Accuracy: Since SmartDrive app shows fuel efficiency for kms covered between engine start and stop, I was not able do an exact correlation between the App and the above figures (tank full method). But yes, for all the individual trips, the app mileage is showing between 10.3 to 11.4 Kms/L.

Posting few observations and fuel efficiency figures from my recent drive from Bangalore-->Wayanad-->Bangalore

Traffic Conditions: Largely driven in Moderate to Low Highway traffic conditions
Total Kms Driven: 631.4 kms
Total Fuel Consumed: 50.99 L
Efficiency: 12.38 Kms/L

• The vehicle behaved well in the little climb that we encountered after entering Kerala.
  
• Power delivery was sufficient, as long as I stayed in the Turbo range
  
• Overtaking on winding roads did require planning due to the size of the vehicle and the width of the roads
  
• Comfort is good. I feel the seat squab could be a little bit more longer to enable an even better under thigh support. Creta probably has the best front seats
  
• I have realised (based on last 3 highway drives), that somehow I am able to beat google maps estimates (even after taking breaks). I don't drive fast and generally stick to 85-90 km speeds on empty roads. I am not sure why this is happening. In my swift, we used to reach very close to what google had predicted at the start of the trip.
