100%.
India is a democracy only during elections, when politicians dole out freebies and promises to get votes.
Rest of the time common citizens (those without connections and power) are at the mercy of goons, thuggish police and unaccountable bureaucrats. Any prospects of redressal in courts are only available to those of us who have some means and can work the system in English.

Glad you made it! I'm so happy for you.
If it was done in US, the police and the district attorneys can be sued for millions of $$.
With our Judiciary system, it is a miracle your case was done so quick instead of dragging for years.

Let the past to rest, enjoy your Asterix

Yes true. It would have been a fit case for compensation abroad.

Though in my case, it is the Judiciary that has saved me. The case will still take a few years but i have been removed from the case (chargesheet) altogether.

First it was the Hon'ble High Court of Delhi that reprimanded Delhi Police for their act of implicating and arresting me and transferred the investigation to the CBI. Then the lower court gave me Bail.

I owe a my freedom and life to the Judiciary.

Having read it in the newspaper brought tears to my eyes. I felt so happy and elated. The fact that you are out of the case is such a relief.

Hopefully the parents of the demised kids also get justice, going forward.

Congratulations Manuuj...

As a lawyer I agree there is no compensatory, restorative or exemplary damages concepts in India. That allows the government authorities to act in such high handed manner.

Nevertheless you came out of this quagmire, restored the Gurkha, that is good news.

Time to really enjoy the Gurkha now...
