Since you've owned the Fortuner and the Endeavour in the past, it would be interesting to read your comparison of them and the Gurkha with respect to their roles as daily-drivers, cruisers and off-roaders.

I've been reading your thread here like its a long awaited sequel to my favorite novel. Like you I've been drinking videos and reviews of the Gurkha and your and Omkar's threads have been the best source of information that I've seen till date

Quick question though. I am planning a change (waiting for Oct to get a Gurkha with 6 airbags) and the Gurkha is definitely it. My only thought is, can I use it as a daily driver?

Occasional road trips and boredom drives on the Outer Ring Road aside, I drive a fair bit in the city. To elaborate more, I work from home, so no work commutes are made. However I do find myself making quite a bit of wee little drives around town on errands or shopping, and before I know it, I've crossed ~ 1k kilometers a month.

Can I do this in the Gurkha and let my existing car go? Or do I need to retain my ageing Punto Evo diesel for this?

Most definitely! As a daily driver its very good. High seating and easy gearing make it cery easy to putter about in town with. The 5 door will be infinitely more practical.

Those Bi LED fog lamps are a boon! They are bright and the spread is amazing. Without them the headlights alone woukd be quite inadequate. Very happy with them!

In other news Asterix crossed 5 months and was taken in for his first service.

Things changed were:

Oil
Oil filter
Both Diesel filters
Differential Oil
Gear Oil
(both Diff and Gear oil are changed on the first service and then only after every 40,000 kms)

Cost was approx: 6200/- ( on higher side due to gear and diff oil being changed also for this service)

Hi everyone, recently got delivery of my black Gurkha. Supposedly it came with new column. But i can still feel Slight knocks when it's turned and goes over rough patches.
Anyone else facing similar issues?

I thoroughly enjoyed reading through your post. Could you guide me on the Bi-LED Projector Fog Lamps, please. How did you decide between LED and HID, as I understand that you get both options ? Next, where did you get the lamps fitted on Asterix ? How much did it cost - I see that you mentioned INR 7500/- but was this inclusive of the fitting charges ? And how about the alignment of the lamps - was that carried out too, after fitment ? And I also note that these lamps have both high beam and low beam. So did you then install a separate toggle switch, to toggle between the high and low beam ? Or is it connected to the headlamp high/low switch ?

No issues in most shopping malls but i know that once i get the lift kit it will become an issue.

These are easily available in Karol bagh now and fitment is done there as well. Shiva car Accessories (+918586964962) is the supplier and he couriers these lights pan india.

It has been a great experience reading about your Gurkha.

I was wondering what are the warranty terms and duration of the Gurkha. Do all these modifications like tyres and after market lights etc create issues with warranty.

Most manufacturers wash their hands off at the slightest hint of any modifications on the vehicles. How has your experience been with Force motors.

Thank you for your kind words. The experience with the after sales has been a mixed bag. FM aftersales is very responisve and does try to provide solutions to any issues that crop up but parts take time and the workshops are woefully inadequate to handle more than 2 Gurkhas in a day.

They have opened another workshop in Gurgaon but that can only handle basic stuff.

The Warranty is for 3 years but that only covers the Engine and Gearbox. Other parts have limited warranty. Some for 6 months some for about a year.

FM hasn't ever raised the issue of aftermarket tyres and lights etc with me and have been very supportive in trying to find solutions rather than point fingers. Which is a great attitude in my book.

I find them eager to help even though hindered by the way the workshops are structured in terms of manpower allocation.

Thanks, I find the Gurkha to be a fairly strong candidate if one needs to or wants to maintain and work on their cars by themselves.

The simple yet robust build would in my opinion let you maintain this kind of vehicle anywhere. That's what pulls my strings.

No worry of taking extended warranty a d no sword hanging on your head all the time. Heck if somethings does break you can easily fix it yourself.

I hope the bring the 5 door quickly and then it will be a good option to consider.
